Went here after drinks at the neighbouring Sparrow's. The food was great - think classic french fare updated and finely executed - meats such as bison, duck, rabbit and foie gras. The service was more than great - good recommendations and explanations as well as taking care of us through the whole meal. The only negative point is prices :... More

Nice looking not noisy BYOB restaurant in an interesting part of town. Very friendly and efficient service. Limited menu but something for everyone, including vegetarian. At first glance dishes seem to be there to showcase chef's imagination but everything worked with nice, discernible flavors. Fabulous bread. Desserts not quite at same level. Considering BYOB, reasonable price.

Deciding to try something new last weekend, we settled on L'Atelier on St-Laurent Blvd. This store front restaurant is in an up & coming neighborhood just north of Fairmount. The menu is very limited (4 appetizers/5 entrees) but runs the gamut of choices. The interesting thing about this place is a lot of the items on the menu are cooked... More

We bought a discount coupon for this place and then in preparation of going we were startled by seeing all the bad reviews. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly smiles and the waiters throughout the evening were very attentive. We started with poached calamari which we had never tried and was very good, and the we also had the... More

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this restaurant. We were there for a Saturday night super and we both very much enjoyed our food and the hip atmosphere of this restaurant. Yes, the music is a bit loud but afte a litle while, you don't notice anymore. We had steak tartare and duck as entrees and... More

We had dinner here last week, the food was barely passable. What we witnessed at a neighboring table was shocking. Someone returned a salmon plate because it smelled bad. When it was time to pay the bill they did not want to pay for that plate. The manager came over and rudely demanded explanations and insisted the full bill had... More

Needless to say, L'Atelier was the ABSOLUTE WORST restaurant experience of my life. The food is way below mediocre, and the service is simply deplorable. There were few choices, and it was exptremely difficult to even choose what to have, and service, from staff to the owner were way below standard and practically unsanitary, our waiter had such a long... Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
