We visit Montreal at least twice a year from Halifax for several years and Toyo is always on our must do for at least one visit but more likely two. We have been fortunate to have Mickey as our chef many times and were lucky enough to have him cook for us again in December, he is an excellent chef... More

I had a bad experience early September in this restaurant, it was my wife's birthday and this was our first time in this kind of restaurants. I chose this based on location and the reviews here. When we went there the restaurant is old and need major update. We were 8 people and we were served on time and it... More

Our family loves Japanese cuisine (especially hibachi) - we recently attended the Adele concert (which was phenom!) and stayed at the Sheraton Centre a block away from the Bell Centre. There are many Japanese restaurants in the vicinity but we discovered Toyo's nearby (a six block walk from our hotel). When we arrived we were greeted by our hostess who... More

I've been a loyal customer of Toyo for over thirty years and love Teppanyaki. The menu hasn't changed in all those years and the food is still good, however this location looks like it really needs to be renovated and in some cases the chefs are not all that enthusiastic or animated. There's a newer, bigger Toyo location in Laval,... More

Your family will love the show put off by these chefs. Typical of Japanese Teppanyaki in North America, the chef puts on a show including some humour and chef antics that entertains the children and the adults. Family of four for dinner was $120.00.

Ok, outside Japan I hardly find restaurants serving typical teppanyaki cuisine and this one has been a delightful surprise; master of teppanyaki was clever and friendly , shrimps, beef and chicken along with vegetables all very tasty for a total bill in line with expectations. I advise everybody who wish a different way from well-known sushi try this amazing restaurant!

Toyo is a pretty good place for Teppanyaki in Montreal. Good food, good cook and good price (130$ for 2 including lobster tail menu).

The server was slow and prepared one item at a time. When serving the vegetables, the first client got all the carrots, and the last 2 clients only received onions! The first client received a lot of shrimp while the last 2 clients had only a few. There was a $5 charge for birthday special- pineapple, scoop of icecream, they... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
