My boyfriend and I went here twice when we were in Montreal because the beer is that good. I recommend the Ginger B, it was my favorite. The first time we were here, we actually experienced a power outage, but it didn't ruin anything. Staff are super friendly and the food is good, making it one of our favorite bars... More

I've been going to HELM for a couple of years as their beers are awesome, however their food is fantastic! Definitely not your average pub fare as their salmon tartare is incredible! Their burgers are also impressive and you don't want to miss out on their chips served with their home mayo - delish! The service is also impressive -... More

We went there to try their craft beers as it was only a couple of streets away from our rental. When entering the place we ended-up in the middle of a live radio show with a room packed with people. We made our way to the back, trying to figure out what was going on (apparently, it is a regular... More

The beers we tried were all delicious, but we were disappointed that the kitchen opened two hours after the bar. We had hoped for a late lunch and ended up leaving after some snacks to get proper meals.

Microbrasserie with excellent beer, some of the best beer in Montreal. They are always trying 2-3 new beers on rotation, and the standard offerings always please. Talk to the staff about the beer, they are friendly/knowledgeable, and can help you find something delicious (they will let you try!).

Came here with a few friends on January 2nd when Dieu de Ciecle was closed. We googled and found this place and it's so great that we did. We were immediately welcomed by Geoff, the manager, who recommended beers to us, chatted lots and even gave us 2 rounds of free shots which he shared with us. The beer was... More

Sorry, but I had arrived with a friend for the first time expecting to enjoy a quality beer and a meal , but a live radio show was taking place which was very loud and we needed to raise our voices in order to hear each other. We accepted the noise until the staff told us (the customers) not once... More

Pros: fresh, delicious local brews. Very reasonable prices. Great location. Cons: very loud music on Saturday night. Went to Helm on a recommendation from my cousin who lives in the neighborhood and I was not disappointed. The first time I went I tried 3 of their beers (and at $6.25 each I could have had a couple more) and loved... More

The staff is usually very nice, they'll chat and joke with you (especially in french...) Almost every time I went there the barman offered me shots. Cool Ambiance. On some days, you can play ping pong in the back of the bar!!! (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays I believe)... Food is good too so if you want to grab a snack... More

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
