Very close to Flycatcher Inn where we stayed. The food was well made and presented and all seemed to be made from scratch.

We approached this restaurant with enthusiasm, based on both the reviews and a recommendation from our local hosts. When we arrived for dinner (around 7pm on a Sunday), it wasn't clear that it was even open since most of the lights in the building were off. However, soon a cheerful waitress appeared and switched on some very harsh neon lights,... More

This seems to be the only restaurant in Santa Elena. I had 2 chicken dishes, one grilled, the other baked in a banana leaf. The banana leaf was excellent; tortillas made right on the grill outside; soups were delicious and staff was friendly and accomodating. Good beer selection too.

Ambiance is unique with preservation of electricity, direct view of the kitchen with the wood oven from our table, Poc Chuc was amazing, tortillas made to the minute, probably the best French Fries I've tasted in my life

I ate many vegetarian/ vegan meals here while I was in Yucatan, and each meal was unique and equally delicious. There was never a dissatisfying dish. I am so grateful to Estela, Miguel and their family for their service and generosity. I could even count on her to make a remedy made of medicinal leaves picked from trees just outside... More

The Mayan owner, Estella, serves up her creations with generosity and passion. I consider her to be the Julia Childs of the Mayan Jungle. Her tortillas are the real deal; you can even hear the hand clapping sound of the tortilla flattening process before they are cooked over the wood burning grill. Most, if not everything, is locally grown in... More

Estela (who owns the hotel and restaurant with her husband Miguel) and her kitchen staff carefully prepares each and every dish with the utmost care, attention, and love, resulting in some of the best food I have ever had! They ensure everything is properly washed and sanitized,... More

I spent 6 weeks in the Yucatan and the Chac-Mool was the best restaurant during my stay there. Apart from the food being amazing, the atmosphere was fun, there was free wifi, the service was amazing and the prices pretty good. HIGHLY recommend the Chac-Mool.

I loved all the food that I had at the Chac-Mool. There is a wide variety of options for any one whether you're a vegetarian or not. Everything is made fresh to order. Every plate is unique with great Yucatecan flair. The service is great as well. All of the servers are very friendly and willing to help you out.... More
