We didn't realise this was a vegetarian place but that's not a problem even though we are carnivores. Far too many vegetarian restaurants stuff "we are vegetarian" down your throat without providing anything decent to eat.
We came across this fab spot by chance and had great coffee and sandwiches so made a point of returning 2 days later on a trip to Lands End (where the choice of coffee and food is appalling!) for coffee and cake.
Whatever you want to eat, it's very good, very fresh and served with a smile and genuinely hospitality. I just wish it were local, not 200 miles from home!!!

We were out visiting friends and stumbled across this cafe.
You have to look carefully to find The Apple Tree, but it is worth the effort.
As it was mid afternoon I had a cream tea - the scones & jam were home made and were delicious.
I will be making the effort to return for lunch there soon as the menu looks amazing.

Visited based on reviews I’ve read and was glad I did.
The cafe is up a quiet lane near Lands End and has a small car park for 6-8 cars
The menu is mainly vegan but don’t let that put you off as the food is very tasty and reasonably priced
We had halloumi burgers which are in home made buns, with proper chips, side salad and homemade coleslaw and were absolutely gorgeous. We also had cafe lattes which again were perfect, a good size with very tasty coffee.
We found the staff extremely pleasant and polite and the customer service very good. Don’t expect fast food as the staff take care preparing the food so just chill and relax and it’ll arrive in good time.
A huge recommended from me if you’re in the area

I had left it a year coming back, but it was just as awful. I don’t understand it really, far too expensive for what you are presented with, and grumpy service. Cream tea was awful, the scones small, thin and dry for a huge price. Letting Cornwall down :(
Such a shame because this could be a lovely establishment.

What a craphole this has turned into! After going there for years to eat a healthy, normal breakfast (real bacon, eggs, real sausages, toast and stuff) we now were disgusted to learn that this place have now gone vegan in a very quiet backward way, peddling their plant based plastic poisonous crap. Already struggling to stay open in a farming community of people that eat normal oldschool food, the place is now empty because they have decided to transverse to plastic food for the odd hippy or two that stumble into the place. Driving tourists and locals away in droves. I WILL NEVER EVER come close to this place again out of principle, or spend a single penny there. All the signs outside trick you with “Come In”, and “We are Open” but zero about : “We sell plant based nonsense” that they try and shove down unexpected people’s throats. Fool me once…shame on me!! They will go under because on this, meaning they will cease to exist.

We visited for a family lunch on holiday with our 1 to, 3yo and 4 yo. The food was really delicious, great value for money and a beautiful garden setting (as well as generous seating options indoors). The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The black currant crumble we had for pud was just perfect. Coffee was also excellent. Loved it!

Give this food a try! I repeat, give this food a try!!
If you’re a meat-eater, give this food a try! If you’re a veggie, give this food a try!
I eat meat regularly but I’m open to plant based and I was delighted by this place! It’s a hidden gem.
A family run business by the most lovely and welcoming ladies; the sausage and smoked cheese open sandwich was outstanding, beetroot crisps are a firm favourite and you simply can not have too many sweet potato fries.
My three year old requested chocolate cake for dessert and it was literally (pun intended) the icing on the cake!
I’m not sure I could recommend this lovely cafe more. Make sure you visit instead of eating the generic stuff you find in corporate chains.

We have always been keen to support the Apple Tree over the years and we have seen it change hands a few times. Since my last review it has become essentially a vegan/vegetarian café so carnivores need to be aware. The menu is very interesting but we settled for something light: soup; scrambled egg and tea When we placed the order the café had no other customers and staff were chatting. We then waited and waited and waited. In that time somebody arrived in a car chatted inside and walked out with a takeaway.. Our lunches arrived at least 25 minutes after placing the order with no explanation and missing the tea!
Were we forgotten? Was the takeaway given priority? Was there an issue in the kitchen? Whatever the situation this was disappointing service and has led to my "average" rating.

Great fully plant-based menu - appears to be same/similar to Orange in Mousehole. We had loaded fries, sausage/cheese sandwich and cakes for lunch - all very tasty. Nice seating inside and extensive outside seating for when the weather is good. Just a shame it hasn't been open for longer in the summer.

The Apple Tree Cafe is a stunning little cafe near Sennen Cove beach. After a long walk, we were given a smiley face as we went to our garden table and were given our menus.
Because of the howling wind, me and my friend vacated to the indoors where a lovely little cat came over to us. It was a very exciting experience waiting for our brunch while drinking some exquisite soft drinks.
When our food came, my mouth was watering with utter delight at the array of lovely breakfast I had —called the Celtic! What made me smile was the delightful variety of options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free people (especially having a friend who faces being GF)! When I tucked in, my mouth filled with contentment at the beautiful food! I ate it all up in less the ten minutes!
In conclusion, the lady who owns the cafe — Dee — was really kind and was a chatty, friendly lady who was passionate about her beautiful business in a calm way. I loved the experience and felt that it was the best thing of the day.

Just one look at this humble little building can tell you it’s
an amazing cafe. As soon as we got there we were immediately greeted with a kind smile and shown to our table me and my friend went sit inside so he could write
and there was a beautiful little cat living next to our table.
When the menu’s came I realised that the amount of vegan and gluten-free and vegan options were immense.
The break feast was all vegetarian and had gluten-free and vegan options were available.
I am not a vegetarian myself and am not usually that keen
On it but this was absolutely Fantastic and was better than any meat breakfast I have ever had the bacon was perfectly smoky, the sausage was perfectly soft and meaty and after 4 years of not eating black pudding this
Vegan one was the perfect reintroduction.
After our meal and beautiful desert we greeted Dee the wonderful owner of the cafe who was an absolute pleasure to meet she was kind, informative and all round
legend.
She was extremely sociable. As we walked out she rushed to us with a sign saying free hugs and then gave us a warm squeeze.
In conclusion The staff were amazing, the food was immaculate and the all round experience of walking the long and steep coast path and then having a lovely meal was heartwarming.
P.S we were late to breakfast and the staff were very easygoing

In one of our very rear days off we decided to visit the apple tree, having not been there for a few years, in fairness it’s been through a couple of owners. Anywho I digress, so we visited here with our miniature schnauzer Scarlet and after a look at the menu and noting that they have a completely plant based menu ( we did know this, but I felt it important to mention) my chose the ‘Vood’ burger With Lettuce, Onion, Tomato, Hot BBQ Sauce, Cheese & Aoili served in gluten free bread (because unfortunately they had sold out of GF buns)
I wanted the Bangkok burger, however they came out to tell me they had sold out so I chose the special lentil burger instead but they added the Bangkok dressings With home-pickled veg, chilli sauce, leaves and satay sauce, and I have to say that both were absolutely delicious and to be honest we had no more room for cakes after that. I will have no problem recommending this venue to anyone we will be returning as soon as we can.

Having seen the positive online recommendations for the Apple Tree Cafe we decided to pop in for lunch on our way to St Just for a weekend away. We arrived at 1.30pm on a Friday and the cafe had a few tables occupied, but it wasn't overly busy. Very disappointingly though, the chef had decided to stop taking any more food orders, even though food is advertised as being served up to 3pm. We opted to stop for a drink and happily waited to see if the chef could eventually feed us some light lunches (some soup or a sandwich maybe), as we seemed to be the last party hoping to have lunch, but in the end the answer was no. This was a very poor outcome and we were not afforded with passion the best possible service or warm welcome as advised on their website. Fortunately though we carried on to St Just and enjoyed a much more warm and friendly welcome in the Moomaid cafe (the first of 3 visits over the weekend, including one to their cafe in Zennor) where lovely toasties and bagels were prepared for us before having the biggest and tastiest Moomaid ice creams. The Moomaid cafes will definitely be our future lunch destinations during our frequent visits to the area.

I have worked in the catering industry for over 20 years and during that time have eaten at numerous Michelin starred restaurants as well as transport cafes both in UK and Europe. About 4 years ago I ate at this cafe and was very pleasantly surprised at the high standard of the food and staff.
After the COVID tragedy I visited Cornwall and looked forward to revisiting The Apple Tree. Sadly the old saying "Never go back" applied. Poor food, pathetic treatment of a member of staff, a totally disappointing experience.
I will not go back and no comment from the owner is required or necessary "Fair words butter no parsnips.
