We had just finished a 4-hour fabulous walk with Shane Connelly on Black Head. Needless to say, we were quite hungry and stopped at this pub right on the R477. I had their seafood chowder which was thick with fresh fish and served with a slice of brown bread. It was quite hearty and very flavorful. My husband had a... More

Stopped here for lunch and were taken for a "ride" by the landlord (Patrick) who had a few nasty things to stay about our home town, before finally admitting that he had lived for 5 great years there. Good craic. Fish and chips was outstanding with fresh cod and a very nice batter (and good chips). Lots of interesting local... More

In the area for 2 weeks, so had the time to see it at various times of the day and week. It is a charm!! The food was great, the brew always cold and served with a smile. Got to meet the locals, with their smile and 'chat' simply adding to the charm. It became my pub-of-choice, easily displacing the... More

We rolled into town just at sunset which is close to 9pm in August. We had a long day traveling from Ashford Castle to Cliffs of Moher then to Fanore. They were just closing up the restaurant portion but they allowed us to place our order. The fish and chips were the best we had in the country. The service... More

Had lunch here in the form of Guinness, Mussels and delicious Irish Brown Bread. Cosy atmosphere, great craic with Pat (owner) and locals. Called in again later that night and found a traditional music session in full swing - even recognised people I had seen earlier at lunch, so looks like a lot of folks called back. Well done Pat... From minute you walk through the door you know you are entering a unique pub. We visited O'Donoghue's 3 times whilst staying in Fanore for the week. Food is really nice (fish and chips are amazing & the Irish stew is worth a try) Guinness is worth the trip from Dublin for and the staff are helpful, welcoming and polite.... More
