I had been looking forward to visiting this pub for ages, years even, but had never managed it, I'm not local to it. When my old friends suggested we came here for a meal and a catch up I was quite excited. We booked for...More

Chartham is just outside Canterbury, and looks like many Kent villages. With its 13th century pub, and river running through it, it's a fairly typical scene. The large paper mill is atypical though, but hiding next to it is the Artichoke. Under new management, the...More

We have been coming to this pub frequently on Sundays for a number of years. However, after a recent change in management, there seems to have been a significant decline in food quality. The Sunday Menu has been significantly decreased which, in itself, is not...More

I went here for lunch with my son. He had the Burger and chips and I had the fish special which was a bream fillet, on a bed of vegetables. All was perfectly cooked. The ale is well kept and the landlord is very polite....More

Typical Kentish pub. Lovely fire. Good selection of local beers. Lunchtime specials board looked interesting with sea bass, seafood linguini or mussels to name but three dishes. We opted for fish and chips which was good and a lasagne which tasted fine but was not...More

We tried other pubs for evening meals in the area whilst on a recent 'glamping' trip but this was by far the best. The lamb shank and the steak and Masterbrew pie were delicious!

I went to this place on a whim. I wanted to dine without going into Canterbury. Upon arrival the old building looks very nice (as can be seen in their pictures). We entered in and sat in the bar side of the venue, the waitress...More

Yes they are. When the was at the Artichoke a customer was there with his faithful friend. I asked the landlady about this and she told me that this dog was a very welcome visitor to the pub. Hope this helps.
