Having previously visited about 2 years ago; we were pleasantly surprised at the new look Talbot! Looks so much better! Friendly staff and good food. A real pub experience with real ales in wooden barrels behind the bar - not something you see every day! Food was good, 'pub grub' and they had a good choice of children's food too.

We visited the Talbot for dinner recently and were not disappointed. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and the place had a warm and cosy atmosphere. The food was excellent, very tasty and good portions, special mention for the chocolate cheesecake! We will definitely be back, shame we can't make it to the sausage festival next week!

Eaten here twice in the last few months - once for the carvery which was good value and very filling and more recently a few weeks before Christmas for a large family get together. As it was a weekend just before Christmas it seemed rather quiet compared to when we visited for the Carvery. There was quite a large menu... More

Went for a Meal with friends and had the festive menu. I had the tiger prawn starter which was disappointing as it consisted of 4 small prawns some tasteless salad and a bread roll. Evidently the soup some of my other friends had was very tasty. Main course was steak which was very good but the chips were only okay.... More

Friendly, helpful service, good variety of beers served from barrels behind the bar. Full menu of pub and restaurant dishes plus specials. Food was good, and quick to arrive (but not too quick!).

We visited for lunch. The menu had a good range of choice, mostly mainstream pub fayre but some interesting dishes: my wife particularly enjoyed the goat's cheese tart. My lasagne was full of taste and more than I could eat. Prices were very reasonable. No frills or pretensions but good value for money pub food.

In recent weeks some of my reviews have been quite critical of places in the Oxford area - mainly on the basis of their shift to "gastroitis" - which is an euphemism for sometimes very pricy, small portion, average food (some of which is trendily and annoyingly "deconstructed") all served in a pub environment. Thank goodness the Talbot has maintained... More

Having spent a week on a narrowboat travelling up and down the Oxford Canal and Thames we chose to have our last meal at the Talbot. After a short walk from Eynsham Lock (check out the road toll) we arrived at the inn. Warm welcome and lovely choice of beers. Menu not massive but enough choice for each of us... More

Stdff couldn't be more welcoming ,enthusiastic and helpful. An extensive but not OTT menu. Very generous portions and spot on with pricing. Recently refurbished it's very styish clean and refreshing. Definitely one to revisit soon . Slight confusion over burger offerings , but rectified without fuss. If you haven't been lately , you must try !
