So this guys charge you the 12% tip which is ok.. this is normal 👍🏻 but they also charge you for sitting in the table 😂 .... so an extra charge.. per person ... not a nice experience.

This is our last night in Venice and we decided to stop at this place which seemed quite pleasant besides being very close to the hotel (we're tired to death at this point). We ordered a gnocchi with gorgonzola which was definitely the worst dish we had in the city. The taste was ok but it was clearly something not... More

Except for the Colorful owner, Ivano (sp?) and his strawberry wine, there aren't a lot of reasons to seek out this eatery. We went as a foursome, 2 couples, and were seated in a "cozy" ( cramped) 4-top too close to the restrooms. One couple's entres came out reasonably quickly, but the other couple's meals were served after the first... More

The reviews are accurate. Same strawberry wine and grey haired owner. Don't be fooled by the nice appearance. It's like getting a bottle of water from the guy who stole your car while chasing him. Secret seating charges, double charges, charged for the large item when ordering the small. A $25 dinner will cost you $80. Avoid it!

Very friendly service, we had a pizza. It wasn't anything special but it was good. Seemed a little pricey but overall we enjoyed our meal.

Stopped for a casual lunch. Setting is pleasant. Thought menu said colas 3.5 and bottled water 2 euros. We ordered two colas and one water. Our waiter brought out a large water and two glasses of cola. Guess he thought we wanted the "large" version because these three drinks cost 15 euros. There is also a table charge, which is... More

We arrived at our accommodation late afternoon and after unpacking walked nearby for dinner. What a bad choice. The café is off the main thoroughfare but near a canal. We had a courteous reception from the person who may have been the owner. and received a complementary drink. We ordered a shared starter and two mains, a small house wine and... More

This restaurant is situated slightly away from the busy thoroughfares. When we went to it it was full, so we thougt we would give it a try. There is an older waiter with grey hair who is fairly pleasant and he encourages you in. The food itself is reasonable but the actual menu does not reflect what they charge you.... More

I went looking for a quick place in Venice to eat some lunch, if there is such a place anywhere in Europe. It was a pleasant lunch not too expensive for Venice prices. Nice atmosphere, pleasant service and nice food. Nothing spectacular, nothing wrong. Since it was a caffe/bar I ordered a pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms and a Diet... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
