We went here for lunch as a family. All the food was excellent- we tried 3 different pasta dishes and each one was delicious. The desserts were amazing. The bill was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. And our 3 year old daughters...ate surprisingly, exceptionally well! To be repeated!More

A pleasant setting, in the street but a quiet one with no vehicle passage. Service cordial and well-timed. All the dishes we tried were excellent (the fish soup "non è caciucco" highly recommended), and we only regretted not being able to try others. So we'll...be sure to go back to do so.More

The owner told us the story of his family. They moved from Rome to open this lovely restaurant after 50 years of work in the hospitality. Winning choice! The chef is the owner's wife and in her dishes you can find fantasy and love. Great...ingredients and good recipies. Just try! GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS AVAILABLE!More

We saw this recommended by a blogger while researching the area . The owners relocated from Rome after gaining Michelin stars there - for a quieter way of life . We visited last Thursday evening with our three children. It’s a fully seafood menu and...what a menu . Antonio patiently explained it all to us as it was in Italian. We had lemon sole and tuna tartare to start and then a clam pasta dish , gunard and a mixed shellfish pasta. They very kindly made a carbonara for my two younger children- which was delicious. We shared two desserts, a melon semifreddo and a meringue with lemon - both beautiful but the meringue was the winner . It is set in a walled old castle high up in Populonia- worthy of a visit on its own. If you’re near and love fish just go !!More

I reviewed this restaurant back in Dec. There was no doubt in my mind that I would return. May in Populonia is much nicer than December! Many families were there to stroll the street and visit the fortress. It my great pleasure to report that...Antonio and Maria continue their reign of excellence. Nicer weather expands the range of things that can be locally sourced increasing the palate possibilities. We tried some of the same dishes as before but also enjoyed Paccheri do Gragnano w Monkfish(pescatrice) and roasted tomtoes and a simply wonderful Sea bass (spigola) cooked in carta fata(paper bag) w fruitti di mare(clams, mussels). A crisp, fruited Vermentino from MaremmAlta winery was a perfect match to every course. Hmmm...I guess I'll have to go back again just to be sure my first two visits weren't exceptions!More

We stopped here for lunch and it was fantastic. We ordered all food from the specials board and it did not disappoint. The restaurant manager was fantastic, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his restaurant. If you want good seafood and wine then make this a stop...on your holiday.More

We dined in La Torre recently in the pretty hilltop town of Populonia. It’s a steep climb up to the town but worth it for magnificent views and of course superb food. There are not too many restaurants in this small town but what’s there...is really very good. We ate and drank in 2 of the 3 establishments there and all very nice experiences. La Torre itself is half way down the Main Street and is run by a husband and wife team originally from Rome. Using local ingredients they have some very nice dishes on the menu. We had the monkfish and the dish of the day, a selection of fried local fish which was delicious . A carafe of the local white wine, Vermentino, made it a very nice dining experience. Kids had a very nice pasta dish in tomato sauce and were kept busy when supplied with some colouring pages and pens. All in all a really enjoyable experience far away from the madding crowds.More

After visiting the old Tower of Populonia, I was attracted by the special offer of the near by restaurant that bears the name of the same Tower. This dish of fried small fishes (an assortment that includes i.a. red mullet) was really a lovely meal,...most enjoyable with white wineMore

What an amazing restaurant. Located in the tiny medieval village of Populonia, surrounded by the regular overpriced touristy knickknack shops, and completely unexpected. We started with swordfish wrapped in eggplant. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked, the eggplant wrap delicate, with a marvelous...combination of tastes and textures. My wife had the turbot, again wonderfully fresh. I had the monkfish, rich and tender with a hint of cranberry with a light breaded crust. The owner was attentive and interested in our experience. One of the best restaurant experiences I have had. I cannot recommend highly enough.More

This is the little surprise everyone hopes to discover.Fortunately, our friends knew of this excellent seafood-centric ristorante in this tiny ancient borgo/castello. Looking from the ramparts one can see Corsica! There is an Etruscan museum there too.The Antonio and Maria(she does the cooking) who run...this spot have serious chops from experience at a Michelin 2star in Roma to a highly regarded eatery in Fiuggi. This is their way of coasting to retirement! The menu is built upon whatever comes in each morning at the fishing port nearby. Pasta and dolci(OMG!) are delicioso and "fatta in casa". Fresh grilled sardines, frittura mista di paranza, and fresh grilled monkfish were highlights. The wine list is carefully curated and offers many wines to discover. In all this place is a great value! This is definitely on my revisit list. In Summer there are apartments for rent. Can't imagine a livelier place for a restful and scrumptious stay!More
