Went with Daphne 629... Popped in for a pint and enjoyed one called 'Shagweaver' which was excellent and had another and that led to staying for dinner. Agree 100% with Daphne that the food was good quality and the steak was sourced from a local butcher. Would like to add that we had our dog with us. Very dog friendly... More

Having locked down the Napton Flight in heavy rain and moored at the bottom as it got dark we were very happy to visit the Folly. We were just going to have a drink but ended up having a fill scale meal for 4! The fillet steak was beautiful and cooked exactly as ordered. The decor is a little quirky... More

Stayed locally for a week and visited three times. Appears very dated but this adds to the charm of the pub. Pleasant staff but dining area a little draughty. Food portions a little large and well drowned in gravy a little less would be better. Beer kept well and prices reasonable.

Having arranged to meet at the Folly for a family lunch - 75 minutes drive for both parties - we really enjoyed a three hour catch-up in this welcoming and slightly quirky pub alongside the Oxford Canal. Table had been reserved in a warm corner and the menu was full and appealing. My sister-in-law had researched the favourites here on... More

A warm welcome greeted me when I stepped in to the bar, on a wild and wet night. I ordered a beer from the cask and steak and kidney pie, with chips. It is known as a "pie and chips pub" - so you have to have a pie and chips! The food was served promptly and without any fuss.... More

I loved the pub - the people, the ambience and Mark, the pub owner! He's fabulous and jolly guy. His moustache adds to his personality and he treats you as if you're a daily customer at his pub. And that matters a lot when you're visiting a pub! The interior decoration is a marvellous and you'll be at home if... More

Always a great day out with my family! Brought the grandparents along as well this year and even though it was raining it was still a lovely day of fun and good music. The food tents were amazing and even catered for a complicated veggie like myself!

So lovely yesterday to make our way through the evening fog and see The Folly so beautifully lit up for Christmas. This is such a special pub. The deep red of the new decor is lovely, and all the trinkets and hats still giving that wonderfully eccentric and cosy feel. Mark's music compilations are genius. The food was delicious.

Excellent food and great service, the whole pub has great atmosphere and is very welcoming to cold and hungry canal boat users.

I was interested to visit the Folly after reading conflicting reviews on Tripadvisor. We went with friends who live in the nearby village of Napton on the Hill for early door drinks. The atmosphere was great, log fires friendly crowd and a very friendly landlord. All tables were booked for meals so I think that must say something about the... More
