The Brass Bell has a great location (once you are seated!) directly over-looking the pounding Kalk Bay surf. We made the big mistake of going there to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary, AND ordering pork belly.... This is really a place for a casual seafood meal, and nothing more!

Family outing of six adults and four kids under the age of 6. Local train from Newlands to Simon's Town. Stopped at Brass Bell for lunch. Great place for a big group with kids. Good service. Fine food. Easy place for the kids to be kids. Beautiful views. Facility has lots of different rooms, something for everyone's taste. A treat.

I had fond memories of this place stretching back more than 20 years but was disappointed on my return. The portions were extremely small and my calamari dish was more like a starter even though it was over R100.00. We visited on a Tuesday when they apparently have specials, but our waiter made no mention of his, even though it... More

Not a memorable one for us. An unusual entrance feels like and smells like you are entering some underground toilets. Then once through the underpass you enter a maze of 3 or 4 different eateries which is confusing. Once we found a staff member free we asked for a table and all they had was outside. Plastic table and chairs... More

Great view! Good service! Not so expensive! Terrible calamari! Pity because in the past it's always been good! On enquiring we were told there is a shortages of calamari and what was served is what they can source at the moment. Why not temporarily stop serving calamari instead of sending out sub standard food!! My partners Sirloin steak however was... More

For a recently re-vamped iconic restaurant with a new exec chef in place we were very disappointed . Our meal was awful . Kids fish arrived and was rotten, baby squid main which sounded good on paper but was bitter and slightly off and no flavor or seasoning . The service was good but will will not be going back.... Dear Sam4850, Thank you for your Trip Advisor review. My sincere apologies for the experience you had at the Brass Bell. Unfortunately my waitron thought by replacing the dishes the matter was resolved and thus did not call management to deal with complaint. My Exec Chef, unfortunately off yesterday, will address this review on his return today to rectify the... More

Lovely food, great ambience surrounded by locals and an amazing view, watching the breakers. Took the train from Fish Hoek to Kalk Bay and stepped right off platform into the restaurant.

The Brass Bell may be the best place to watch the waves crash in while eating some great hake and chips. Nothing fancy about it, but the meal and service is worth a stop. Good food for the whole family.
