Been coming to this resturant for over 15 years. But something has gone wrong with this establishment. The last two times we’ve visited the food and service has been very lacking. Today was the last straw, firstly they got the name on the booking wrong,...and said we didn’t have a booking. Secondly gave us a table near the entrance which wasn’t nice and we asked to be moved, was able to move near the window looking out at the paddocks which was better although was asked to carry our utensils to the new table. .???? Took a long time to get a wine list and then the wine we chose. The Scallop entree was nice but very small with only 3 scallops a bit underwhelming for the price. My main Barra dish was very average with the small piece a fish placed on a bowl full of quinoa, with what looked like pea leaves underneath. The dish was Very dry and the fish was over cooked and tasteless. My wife’s Calamari salad was ok. The bill came to $122, not what I call good value for money , could have gone up the road and had better food and value at the Golf Club or Pelican Rocks. Lift your game guys or it will come home to bite you.More

We booked online for a family lunch on Easter Sunday. When we booked we noted that we had an elderly member of our party that walked with the aid of a walker so we needed easy and clear access to our table. When we arrived...they told us they had allocated a table on the mezzanine level up several steep stairs, not a good start. After sorting out a new table we sat and waited around 20 minutes to place a drinks order that then took around another 15 minutes to arrive. We weren’t in a rush but this was the way the service went for our entire meal. The food was terrific and great value for money. We still had entree plates on the table when our mains arrived. The mains delivery were over around 15 minutes. Again the service let down what could have been an excellent experience. I will return as the food was great and the site is wonderful and I would like to give them another try. I hope they sort out there service soon.More

We had an 8.00pm sitting by which time the restaurant did not appear to be very busy. That said it was 45 minutes before we finally managed to order our food and drinks. The drinks took forever to come as did the trio of dips...(which surely would have been very easy to deliver). The entree's followed very quickly after the appetizer and were delicious so no complaints there (we had the scallops and lamb koftas). We had no sooner finished the entree's when the mains came out (well 2 of the 4 did). By the time the second 2 mains turned up the first 2 had been consumed. The lamb shank was very good; the pork belly was tough and the accompanying spiced carrot puree watery and tasteless. The squid ink linguine and risotto were also rated as average by my dinner companions. The ambience itself was good being located in an old butter factory which had charm and character. Overall however it was a disappointing experience not helped by the poor service.More

Excellent food. Mediocre service. Sat at window at sunset and saw a lot of duck and curlews flying in V formation across the fields.

I have to admit I read the bad reviews 1st & was in doubt about booking a table.....but we gave it a try & was NOT disappointed. Walking in, for a birthday lunch, we were pleasantly surprised by the greeting & service, food & drinks...were prompt & no waiting for top ups for the beer. The food was wonderful, no complaints & we will definitely go back.More

I was excited about lunch. I had called ahead to see if we needed to book and if they were dog friendly. I called back the following day to book and it was confirmed. When we arrived and we walked into the foyer area to...do the COVID check in, having followed the sign stating ENTER HERE, the owner approached us and without greeting or softness of tone (understatement!!) she told us we shouldn’t be there. I was really upset by her tone and we were ushered out the door and told to go round the back. To top it off they did not have our booking. It was all white tablecloths inside but outside it was a different story... move your own tables and chairs to get a spot in the shade, tables that could do with a good clean and sweep... a bit uncared for. We tried to get past the rude ‘welcome’ but the wait staff didn’t redeem the situation. I fancied a glass of Rose and as there was only one sold by the glass, I asked the waitress if it was dry... I don’t drink so I don’t know, was the reply. I asked her if it was possible she could check... pulling teeth would be a dream. Another couple came and sat outside. They too had to rearrange the furniture. Surely this is something wait staff can assist with ? They also mentioned the ‘interesting conversation’ they had with the owner. The food was ok. The service really poor and the tone of the owner upsetting. I understand working with the public is challenging but when you seem angry at work... it’s time to rethink things. Why not be polite and courteous? Total bill was $111.00 for lunch for two. I have had much better value for money and better service in pubs. A real shame.More

After being grilled over covid login we were taken through the bright and picturesque main dining area to a dark draughty back room totally devoid of any atmosphere. Instead of looking at the paddocks and cows we were looking a dirty badly in need of...paint kitchen door. Although the meal was ok the service was very poor and unprofessional. Main course was delivered while used entree plates were still on the table. The change from the bill was handed to me not in a sleeve but in the waitress's hand which l which made giving a tip very public and awkward. There was a 10year old boy doing service which is not appropriate in a licensed fine dining restaurant. The overall experience was very disappointing exaggerated by the location of our table. I would only ever return if I was assured a front room table. Not good value for the service we receivedMore

We booked this dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary small celebration. When making the online booking it asked if we were celebrating anything. I have no idea why this is asked as the restaurant does not seem to take any notice of this. Our party...of 7 arrived to a very cool welcome. We were gruffly given all the covid instructions which we followed and then led to our table. It is a gorgeous old building and the atmosphere is very pleasant but the staff seemed like we were a burden and we were beneath them. When ordering drinks we also asked if we could have some glasses of cold water. Our drinks arrived but no cold water came. After 30 min and asking twice more we were finally given a small pitcher that only filled all our glasses 1/2 full. While we would have liked more water we knew it was a waste of time asking for more so went without. The one waitress who took our meal orders was the only pleasant smile we encountered the entire evening. A small boy of about 10 or 11 was working as a waiter delivery meals. He looked miserable and stressed. When our meals arrived they were a great disappointment. The butter-factory presents itself as fine dining. This was anything but. The chicken was dry and tasteless. It desperately needed some type of sauce. The steak marginally better in flavour, For the prices they were charging this food was dismal. We were so disappointed with both the food and the service we did not stay for desserts or coffee but left as quickly as we could. I would not recommend this place to anyone and we will never return.More
