When we asked 'why' the server explained that they did not want to challenge loyal clients who had been with them throughout covid. When we left one of the owners was in the bar area, greeted us and wasn't wearing a mask.
The restaurant looks...good. The seafood chowder wasn't great (not hot, frozen seafood), the restaurant wasn't busy, great cornbread. Expensive.
Won't go back.More
New address next to original on Marshal so check their website. Nice fresh ambiance. Looking for Vegan/Vegetarian lunch fare & found Restaurant 62 advertising their farm to table concept, so needed to trial. Spouse had the capers & sundried pasta dish & I had the...Quinoa Salad without the meats/cheese; both very fresh & tasty. Hot cornbread loaves to start with were excellent. Creme brûlée came with a couple little soft & delightful chocolate chip cookies & their decaf coffee was excellent. Busy enough for a mid week lunch with extra rooms at back one could have for special occasions, able to close off with the barn door sliders & an outdoor sunny covered patio. I didn’t give a 5/5 as it would be nice to have true vegan/vegetarian options without having to fine tune what is offered. Worth returning to however as such a lovely new, bright, clean & friendly atmosphere.More
We were lucky enough to enjoy a post-elopement celebration dinner with our families at Restaurant 62. I corresponded via email with Jeff who was very kind and answered all my questions promptly. The food was so delicious, we were already planning our next visit before...dessert arrived. Can't wait to go back!More
On 6/11/21. A girlfriend of mine recomended restaurant 62 she said it has great reviews. So we decided to go for lunch there just before 2pm. We were greated by Sarah she was our waitress. Right away i noticed she was in a bad mood....I asked her are u having a bad day today and she just stared at me. My friend said she is speaking to you why are you ignoring her? She place things on the table in an uncaring way. No eye contact no smile she banged things down or grabbed things u vould feel the tension from her. It made us feel uncomfortable to be honest.. it just was not a nice atmospher to be in. I could tell she was not happy or something was bugging her. I mentioned to my friend i guess shes having a bad day oh well i hope it gets better for her. We did move from outside patio inside due to it being cold. I guess that was more work for her. My friend got a sald but i got the Bc halibit 37. Sounded real good its about $37 bucks not a big deal if its cooked right.. We were there to enjoy and have a good afternoon. Sadly my halibut was rubbery and hard. I asked my friend for her opinion she said the same we broke it in the middle it was only tender in the middle but so hard and rubbery the rest of the way nice size fish tho but what good is it if the middle is great and the rest of it hard. Do u eat your fish when its hard? Halibut is agreat fish if cooked right. I was trying not to be upset or show my dissapointment. I mentioned to the waitress i was like im sorry i cant eat this can i please order something else. The manager came over and straight up said we happy with the fish the chef and I so we not gonna exchange it if we do u have to pay for both plates so u have to pay for it.. They must be struggling i thought maybe due to vovid but the attitude wow..Never in my life have i experienced this before. Not only that we got our bill handed to us right away basically telling us to leave. Like u not welcome here. Now my girlfriend and i are people of colour and im baffled at the high reviews this place has gotten and why our expetience was so different. I really hope it wasnt about our skin colour. But it sure didnt seem like any one else was getting this type of treatment. I am going to the news and radio about my experience its really unsettling to be treated this way. During covid we already dealing with depression and loosin loved ones and then to finally get out and experience this? I just have never been treated so rudly like this or experienced this type of annimosity. The fish was terrible.. would u pay 37 bucks for hard rubbery fish and be told if u dont like it too bad i expect u to pay for that plate? What would u do? Whats my rights in this situation? They put the fish in a to go box and we got our bill right away my friend was still eating her food we both had unfinished wine so we sat there and she finished her meal i drank my wine. I was trying hard not to let this bug me but i got home and cried this is horrible. I was polite to the manager i was kind to the waitress. I couldnt eat the fish I ate the mussels cause i was hungry i had to throw the fish away what a waste and how sad.. I do not recomend this place. If u can give me advice on how to deal with this please let me know.. i am gonna take this to the public so it never happens again to someone else.. horrible experience..More
This is our third visit and we’ve been impressed each and every time. Food is excellent and our server Marissa was amazing. Every time we’ve come the people next to us seem to be from out of town and comment how this is their favorite...place in BCMore
So I recently moved closer to abbotsford and have been looking for quality restaurants nearby. Restaurant 62 kept coming up in top abby restaurants. So my husband and I went there for dinner tonight, the service was fast.the menu, small(usually a sign of a good establishment)we both...ordered the chicken.it was very bland and underwhelming. As we are eating our meal we overhear out server listing off about at least 10 special appetizers and mains that were not on the menu. All of them sounded sooo much better than anything on the printed menu. Iam pretty annoyed that she never told us about the other dishes available...we will give it another chance, and will definitely ask about the daily specials.More
Took my husband here for his birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was Marissa, she paid great attention to detail, was attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Huge praise to the chefs and kitchen staff for impeccable service....The portions are plentiful. It begins with delicious warm bread and hummus. We chose a starter, entree and dessert.
It is so lovely to have a fine dining restaurant on our doorstep in Abbotsford. We will be back and hope to return with friends and family.More
