We stopped in for a warm drink on a cold day. Cappuccino and hot chocolate were good but what we came out with was an inspiring story of a Canadian who bought a coffee plantation in Africa and ships the coffee to Thornbury to be roasted and brewed, supporting African schools in the mean time.

Ashanti coffee is fresh and their baked goods plus sandwiches are a cut above any "regular" coffee shop.

Great selection of coffees. Says they are a roastery but I could see no evidence of roasting. Must be hidden. That brings me to the decor - sort of trying for an African feel, but there's a mish-mash collection of odds and ends around the place with no real theme present. Their own coffee was on display on a rack... More

Dear Jeff We are pleased that you thought the selection of coffee was great! We did originally start out with a roaster in the back half of the café but due to growth and more demand for our coffee, we have had to move the roasting off site. The roaster is now located in Thornbury Ontario in order to accommodate... More

When asking where to go for coffee this place can come up often. People always say to go here, the leathal buzz, or eespresso post. I always go to espresso post but my friend wanted to meet here for a change. It was awful. . The espresso is bitter. In a bad way. Not an espresso way. Will definitely go... More

Dear mandapandanewfield, We are glad to hear that when asking where to go for coffee, Ashanti is highly recommended! We love it when people share their thoughts about our coffee while they’re in the café, it gives us the opportunity to make adjustments if there is a problem, and our goal is to always do our best to satisfy the... If you are in this area, and not even in the mood for coffee, stop here. You will not regret it. We dropped in mid-afternoon, and it was a quiet, but busy, café. The service was extraordinary. Staff were very helpful. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful. Tastefully decorated and relaxing. But, the coffee is exceptional. I would be the... More

We were impressed by the robust taste of their lattes. They apparently source their cofee directly from Zimbabwe and it shows. The coffee is robust and authentic. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. A must if you're ever in Collingwood. We were there in low season for tourists and the other customers there at the time seemed to be locals,... More

After apple picking, we were looking for a cozy place to warm up with a good coffee. Ashanti was a real winner! With so many tasty choices, we shared everything so as to experience all the flavours. Thai chicken soup was spiced perfectly, and the butternut squash soup was a soothing autumn treat. The samosas were fragrant with fennel, crispy... More
