After reading all the glowing reviews for this place, I was looking forward to some amazing fish n' chips. Being from Victoria and having lived and commercial fished in many places on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland, I've had the good fortune of enjoying fish n' chips at many west coast establishments. I've also enjoyed many outstanding seafood meals... More

These guys do fish and chips right! You can build your own fish and chip meal from type of fish to how it is cooked! The service is great and the prices reasonable. How can one town have so many great places to eat?

We were in our way to Victoria and I was really hungry after driving the curvy road from Tofino, she suggested to stop in this place named Bare Bones Fish and Chips, I said ok, what a nice surprise to see that the building is a church, they even have the benches anyways I asked for the cod and she... Repeat visit as my wife & I passed through Port Alberni returning from the West Coast. Both of us had cod & chips, 1 with Traditional and one with the Panko batter. Both v good. Generous portions so even though we stopped as a late lunch, we only needed a snack at dinner time!

Based on TA I was not disappointed. Options are traditional fish and chips, grilled fish or panko crumb batter. I went traditional and was not disappointed. Well worth the visit. See my other reviews for Port Alberni.

Heard lots about the restaurant so had to try it. The interior is very much in keeping with the church it was. We ordered the 2 piece cod fish and chips. The food came right away and filled the plate. Two large pieces of fish cooked just right, a large portion of chips and your choice of caesar salad or... More

This place lived up to it's repetition for great fish and chips. All the variations at our table were excellent. I would go back again!

I have heard this is the "best fish & chips in town" and "people come from all over" to eat at Bare Bones. I live locally and finally decided to try out this restaurant and order over the phone for pick up. I ordered a two piece fish and chips (one piece Salmon and one piece Halibut) with the coleslaw... Bare Bones: an upscale fish and chip restaurant featuring west coast halibut, salmon, cod and prawns. Sides include hand-cut fries, caesar salad and coleslaw. Try your fish grilled or choose our famous beer batter or panco bread crumb coating. Always fresh and delicious! Look for our patio on Johnston.
