The Blackbird is the go-to cafe of our group four times a year. The ambiance is1800s, but the food is well conceived, well prepared, and kindly presented in 2017. I have never had a dish which disappointed. Dietary requirements of my friends were cheerfully fulfilled. Don't miss their soups, and the banana-chocolate cheesecake was to die for.

This place used to be THE place to go especially for a special occasion. It was always expensive, but worth what you were paying for. I don't know why, but it appears the portions have changed and the food is just not the same.

The Black Bird was a short drive for us and the first word that came to mind, as we came to the door, in the evening, was "Rustic" - The interior is pleasant, with a lot of knick knacks displayed on the wall, which definitely add to the character of the place. The older wood boards and planks complete the... More

I love this cafe for many reasons. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and they were closing a little earlier for some reason so our lunch was a bit rushed but we were grateful that they still took us after an hour drive to get there. The food was fresh and large portions. The only thing disappointing was the... More

What a sweet little place. It is not a café in terms of there are no cappuccinos or lattice, but what there is, is amazing fresh flavourful and healthy food, and an interesting environment, you are surrounded by things you willwant to look at, and I t is very tranquil and relaxing. The kind of place you want to sit... More

This was our first visit to this gem of a place. Small and quaint. Service was excellent with staff very knowledgeable. We had shrimp cocktail and crab cakes for starters then steak with blue cheese crust, and steak and mushrooms for main course. Steaks were done to exactly as we ordered. Finished off with carrot cake and a chocolate/banana cake.... More

We had lunch here one day while staying at the Calabogie Lodge. We both had wraps from their specials that day and were very satisfied. Mine had chicken, cranberry goat cheese, bacon, pesto mayo, lettuce, and tomato. My husband's was southwest beef with veggies. Both came with a small salad and a bowl of soup for around $15. It was... More
