Two plates of soup ordered were tasty but cold, and were returned for reheating. We were not permitted to exchange soup toast for a baguette. Toast delivered with soup was first burnt black and next toast attempt was underdone - totally white and dry. All this some time! The service was very poor and staff didn't seem to care. On... More

Stopped here for a morning coffee and croissant. Delicious, will be back. Would be better if coffee and croissant arrived at the same time, but otherwise like many French cafes I have beeen to. Didn't try the tarts, but they looked delicious... will try them next time.

They tried to capture some of the French feel with the decor and food options but the place is looking quite tired (pet peeve of wobbly chairs and tables) and the food was pretty average. So then I guess maybe they did capture the French concept just right...

Not worth going into this place, from its horrible food, to poor taste interiors, this place lacks any sense of France. If a model Eiffel Tower make you sing, then youre in luck, but other than that, its not good. I lived in Paris for 7 years, so know what a good French patisserie should be like. This one sells... Stopped by in the late afternoon and noticed they had a special for pastries. I got a few and only afterwards that what I picked wasn't discounted. The almond croissant was quite nice and flaky and the almond paste quite nice, almost like a custard. Looks like they do other food as well but were packing up when I showed... More

If you dont mind splashing out a bit more for bakery food the pastries are on par with other French bakeries in Auckland. The mille feuille and ham and cheese ficelle are very nice.

We found this cafe by accident (Lake Road Takapuna) & the service was excellent and the food was fresh and very tasty. There were so many fabulous looking things to choose from, it was very difficult, but all of the pastry choices were all excellent - true French flavour.

I have to say this review is based on a single visit, where the only thing I tried was the "Brioche Crunch" (or something that mentioned crunch and brioche). Unfortunately it was just horrible. It was so DRY, had none of the rich butteriness of the average brioche. It was like eating a stale hamburger bun with some bland crumble... More

Great little French bakery. Good value for money and do good coffee. If you want a simple great value breakfast or lunch pop in. While I haven't tried the sweet section they appear amazing with tarts and all sorts of great cakes.

La Tropezienne or the French Café as it's known locally is still a great place for fresh food and coffee, and for meeting friends, especially on cold winter days. They also have free internet and great staff.
