Hadn't been here for a year or so. Food was all freshly cooked and tasted great. Menu not the standard pub/restaurant fare. Service was good and friendly and the restaurant is comfortable and oldy-worldy. We will definitely be back and not leave it as long...More

Glad to find on this visit that this pub has gone back to proper pub grub, ( previous visits french bistro) served until 21.30, had fish and chips, they were very good and much appreciated after a long hot drive.

As several other reviewers here have said, the service - particularly on quiet evenings - is nothing less than atrocious. This is a great shame as the food was superb. We sat down at around 8:10 p.m. - the waitress saw us do so, yet...More

A proper country pub. Friendly staff, lovely beers to drink and a nice selection of good quality food. Weirdly a bowling green behind it as well - different from a cricket field or village pond.

The pub is actually owned by the church opposite and they employ a team to run it for them. I understand - as has been said - the the current people have been there for a year or two.

I believe the Castle Inn has been under new management for about the last six months and is gaining a strong local reputation for its restaurant.
