This was our second visit to The Plough. The first (reviewed a year ago) was a disappointment. But this time it was a much better experience. We ate in the spacious and comfortable bar area, and the service was excellent throughout. The menu is interesting and varied, with some good daily specials. Starters of potted crab, mushroom soup and pork... More

Despite the menu saying they can cater for special dietary requirements, and us ordering our food in advance, they still weren't able to make a vegan soup. How difficult is vegetables and stock? When the "tomato and basil" soup (as described by the waiter) arrived you could see the cream. When questioned, the waiter insisted there was no dairy in... More

I have only ever had a couple of McDonald's burgers, usually rushing to catch a train or persuaded by my grandchildren but compared to what the Plough offered they were significantly better at a fraction of the price. Along with a group of friends and based on good reviews we looked forward to a good meal, however it was very... More

Having not visited The Plough for over a year, a group of 10 of us met for an early supper before going on to a further function. We only had time for a main course and coffee but without exception we all throughly enjoyed ourselves - the food was very good - particularly the fish of the day and the... More

We had Christmas dinner at the Plough. It was six courses and the food and service was excellent. Part way through the dinner a group of Bell Ringers came into the restaurant playing Christmas carols.

We were very impressed by this friendly inn, it's beautifully done out inside to be cosy but modern. Staff were very friendly and menu had a good mix of pub staples and some more interesting options. Food was generally good, although the batter on the fish and chips wasn't as crispy as I'd ideally want and the creme brûlée just... More

Stopped off here for dinner 5 hours into an 8 hour journey. Nicely placed not too far off the M6. Totally hit the spot and so much better than a service station pit stop. Nice relaxing cosy environment, very tasty food, great service. Definitely recommend.
