Beautiful building but unfortunately the food and service don't match this. Generally okay but very basic and expensive for what it was.

We were staying at the Peacock and fancied a change in scenery and a quick drink in a different pub. We arrived at 10.30 but were told they had cashed up and couldn't serve us. Poor customer service - never heard of a pub not being able to serve at this time and turning customers away. We returned to the... More

We were given a warm friendly welcome on a busy lunchtime. There was plenty of choice on the menu with the option of changing the side dishes (e.g. sweet potato or yuca fries instead of the usual fries). We had the pies, the beef and the chicken and ham. A large tasty pie with plenty of filling at a reasonable... More

Good portion of proper beef and ale pie, very tasty lasagne, and great flavoured chocolate pudding. Although fairly busy it was a gentle buzz of conversation as the layout works well with tables separated into small areas. Friendly staff were efficient and attentive.

Called in here early one evening without booking. Plenty of tables to choose from. Friendly staff and very efficient. Chose the lite bite menu which was just a smaller portion of the regular menu. Lots to choose from. Opted for steak pie chips and peas, fish and chips - both fabulous pub food. Didn't have to wait long as not... More
