I concur with the majority of reviewers in finding the Queens Head a favourite pub. The weathered tables and chairs, the welcoming wood fire in the lounge, the old pub games, the great and well-kept beer. Yes, the menu is limited but I always go for the rare roast beef sandwiches with horseradish - a perfect lunch. But now on... More

A visit to see my Brother in Cambridge would not be the same without a visit to this fine, unchanged establishment of a Sunday lunchtime. No airs and graces, and certainly no piped muzak. Just fine beer from the wood, a limited but wholesome menu ( I love it when people unfamiliar with the regime ask what the soup is... More

As a CAMRA member, I feel obliged to say that this a great traditional pub. You don't often find pubs with gravity feed barrels any more. The soup is good and filling, but there's not much choice, apart from sandwiches and baked potatoes (which were excellent). Don't come here expecting modern gastropub food, they'll laugh you out of town. However,... More

Food choices are limited but good. The soup is fantastic and the bread it's served with is the stuff of dreams. Pub is sweet (although not necessarily in a beautiful way) and the open fire was great.

Unchanged in decades, the sandwiches they serve for lunch could easily be made so much better. If you buy soup it comes with delicious granary loaf bread, but if you get sandwiches or a platter they are made with horrible Hovis-like cheapo stuff. A real shame as it lets the whole side down. Every Wednesday they have a different street... More

Consistent quality in both the menu and the ale - if its not broken comes to mind. This pub has a great family heritage in its running over recent years which I am sure has added to the continuity in food and ale. It always has a comfortable atmosphere and at this time of years this is enhanced by the... More

Charming country Boozer stuck in a time warp, Never changes and a great place to enjoy a mug of varying colour soup and a plate of sandwiches or good old toast and dripping. Good selection of beers on offer and characterful change from the norm.

Soup by the colour, home smoked salmon, roast beef sandwiches & the best Stilton & home made pickle sandwich anywhere. The ale is exemplary & straight from the barrel. The setting is two centuries ago so don't expect any brass pumps or screens or even a credit card machine!, just a peaceful perfect pint & food quality food prepared on... More

We stumbled upon this pub while trying to find Cambridge. Simple food, soup of the day and various platters. Great bar and excellence character.
