The food, staff, atmosphere and drink here was absolutely lovely. We had booked a table for seven people and were served by the lovely Nino. He was very helpful in terms of advising us on what to eat and what to drink with it. The...More

Our lunch at St John's Chop House was a bizarre experience! The food on the set lunch menu was pretty bad: the sardines were full of bones, makarel fillet was dry, and risotto was plain weird (a weird combination of sour and sweet). My aunt...More

We have been here a few times before, but it remains our favourite restaurant in Cambridge (where it is quite difficult to get a decent meal.) We went on a Saturday evening this time and it was pretty busy, but we were served quickly. We...More

Have come here with colleagues, ordered a "grazing plate to share" for starters and then everyone had a different steak or the duck breast salad for mains. Nobody complained, quite the opposite they all praised the food, the steaks were tender, the haggis and cheese...More

Had a wonderful meal for my stag do, great British food and drink. Enjoyed the display of the meat. Service good.

I know Cambridge isn't exactly a gastronomic centre and one has to lower their expectations somewhat when dining out, but this was ridiculous, it's like they're not even trying. Had a mixed starter plate with verious claggy, stale bad tasting fried bits. The steak was...More

This is run by the same people who run the Cambridge Chop House on King's Parade, and it has basically the same menu -- which is a good thing. Chops, and steaks, and sausages, and suet pudding, haggis fritters, pork cracklings, Eton mess, and good...More

Hi, I'm afraid there is no parking on site, however you can park in the pay and display opposite the restaurant. The road is called Pound Hill and is @ £1 per hour. Parking during the week is not a problem but at the weekend... More

Just off the beaten track, The St. John's Chop House is a sister restaurant to The Cambridge Chop House. The restaurant is situated in a 200 year old former Almshouse. Split over 2 levels with 5 separate dining rooms it offers a wide range of dining options from an intimate meal in our Reading Room to the party sized rooms on the ground floor. Traditional British food is once again the mainstay, sourced as locally as possible, complimented by a local cask ale and an interesting wine list. Reservations are taken and recommended, especially at the weekend.
