This is a lovely little place in Ely! It's in quirky surroundings and serves fantastic home cooked food by very friendly staff! We didn't feel rushed at all and were able to really enjoy our meal and make the most of the evening!

Although others in our party have been fairly regularly, this was our first visit for many years and we were delighted to find that the place still lives up to its reputation. Good choice of starters, mains and desserts, all well cooked and generous servings - they even offer extras!. Characterful and a great place for a group/family meal.It is... More

We had a lovely family meal recently from the spring set lunch menu. One of the items on the menu was substituted at the last minute. When I mentioned that some of us did not eat pork, we were allowed to choose a substitute from the regular menu. The younger members of the party were permitted to share one adult... More

Delicious Sunday lunch, smaller portions but option for seconds. Everything is homemade and very tasty/well-seasoned. Meals on the pricier side. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has lovely views of the cathedral and their own garden. I particularly liked all the artwork on the wall. I would definitely recommend it and will return one day!

We've been here quite a few times now and it has never disappointed. Very quirky but the food is good quality, local and freshly cooked, we've eaten in many restaurants all over the world and this little restaurant has a very special place in our hearts. Getting a table at the weekends can be difficult but but it's worth the... More

Has been a favourite restaurant for years. All home cooked food and offerings of seconds. Very formal old house with antiquated furniture and atmosphere. Some dishes a bit over priced.

We had our Wedding Breakfast at Old Fire Engine House exactly 22 years after my mum & stepfather had theirs in memory of them. There were 20 of us in total & to say everything surpassed our expectations is an understatement. The whole team were just amazing. Everyone commented on location, food, wine, staff, gardens. Every guest offered seconds -... More

Mother's Day and the place was packed but still the same gorgeous food and attentive service. This time we had coffee in the upstairs lounge and looked round the art gallery. Very civilised!

Went for a special meal. Fabulous choices, nicely presented. Very generous - you get offered seconds if you want! Very good wine list.

We've eaten here a few times, it's one of those places we save for special days as we've always loved it - a lovely old building with good food and seconds if there are any left as they only have one sitting for meals. Yesterday we went for our anniversary and, oh dear, it was such a different experience. We... More
