Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly guy named Bobby. We ordered masala dosa and a chat I can't remember the full name of. The doss is amazing, best I've tasted in a long time. I also tried the cardamom tea for the...first time and for me at least, it tastes great. I will definitely be going back here again in the near future. Definitely recommend it if you're passing through Chester. The only downside is they're only open certain days and hours, due to the impact of covid this past year!More

We visited in a large group and Bobby couldn’t have been more hospitable. The food was AMAZING! Fantastic value. Excellent service. The samosas were just the best I have eaten. Highly recommended

My partner and I ate here earlier this evening and can't rate the food or the super friendly service enough. Bobby and his wife were so friendly and helpful, it felt like we'd visited their home! The food was amazing, we are vegetarian and gluten...free so eating out isn't always easy but there were plenty of options and were offered more bespoke options too! It's BYO for alcohol but the juices and drinks options were as equally diverse and tasty as the food. It's a short walk from North Gate and the City Walls, close to the canal. It's a small restaurant but with cosy booths. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.More

Visited Chai Station on a whim during a quick stopover in Chester. Wow! What can I say?? Firstly, Bobby, the main man, allowed our pooch to sit with us inside to dine. As any dog owner looking for a dinner out would know, this is...a rarity. Incredible starter platter, phenomenal service and vegan cakes to die for. We were even made a vegan lassy upon request - something that is a childhood favourite of mine. We will be getting a train to Chester just to come here again! Wonderful place that leaves you feeling heartful and bellyful.More

Went last night to this restaurant with my daughter. We tried the thaali and it was very delicious. My daughter liked the paneer dish, my favourite was the brown lentil and kidney beans. I have never tried that combination before. Bobby was a great host...and made guests feel very welcome. This is a small well run family run business. Will visit again if I'm in Chester.More

Chai Station's food has always been really good, but now that Bobby's wife (Ann) has taken over as chef, the food is truly outstanding. Her freshly made breads are the best we've ever tasted, especially the beautifully spiced Dal Puri. They're great for scooping up...the rich Baigan Bahar. We always get a 'mixed plate starter', which includes various vegetables in a light batter (a bit like Tempura). Even the very simple potato slices are moreish with tamarind and mint/coriander chutneys (which are totally unlike the dips in most 'Anglo'-Indian restaurants). Bobby always brings a few surprises - this week there were battered chilies, which weren't too hot but very tasty. Because we don't like too much sugar in curries, Ann made a different Paneer Chili for us - very rich and spicy - Spot on! I think she's also changed the spices in the Samosas, which have also gone from good to amazing. Chai Station must now be well on track for #1 Cheshire Indian Restaurant. Thanks Ann & Bobby - see you again soon.More

We visited here just after opening time and were given a very warm welcome by the owner. He was attentive and helpful throughout our visit. The menu was extensive and we were unsure what to choose. We told the owner our likes and asked him...to make us appropriate dishes and accompaniments. We had poppadoms to start with chutney and tamarind the two starters and mains with a selection of breads and boiled rice. All were unique, beautifully cooked and tasted lovely. We would highly recommend Chai Station and will certainly visit again.More

Absolutely loved our visit to Chai Station, fresh, homemade food, full of flavour. Quirky surroundings but that adds to the experience of the amazing food and wonderful hosts. Bonus to take your own wine! We will be back!

I'm sure Chai Station would take bookings, but it's rarely full so we've never had a problem. Don't know why it's not busier - food is great.
