A fairly good Sam Smith pub offering a good selection of beer at a very good price as are all San Smith pubs. Set in a lovely building, warm and friendly staff (reviews seen differing from this maybe from people that don't like a proper...More

We had been out for a meal in Chester and thought it was to early to go back to our Narrowboat so called in here for a drink. I wish we had not done so. I ordered two glasses of wine. I asked for a...More

Called in for a bite and a pint. We found very friendly staff (I cannot understand a earlier review) good Sam Smith beer, decent sandwiches.

This a typical Sam Smith's pub. Very friendly people, excellent bar staff who readily enforce Sam's 'no swearing' rule. Clean, quiet with good beer thrown in. Well worth a visit.

Whilst there is no doubting this is an elegant picturesque pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff, it is the quality of Samuel Smiths Real Ale that lets it down. A once great beer now a shadow of its former self. The pub has...More

The staff were very friendly, but we were disappointed with some of the architecture within: having been told such a lot about the internal reconstruction, Parts were worth seeing from an historical point of view but others could have been mistaken for a Wetherspoons! (sorry)!...More

Quick bite to eat for lunch and we were welcomed into a lovely traditional pub. The food was nice and they had a great selection of drinks. If you like a pub that sells traditional ales and beers instead of the usual types, then this...More
