We ate here on a recent visit to Chester and were very impressed with the food and the lovely cosy atmosphere. All the dishes we had were excellant and beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and its a lovely old building. We could not fault the place or the food and would recommend eating here if in... More

Although I have reviewed the Grosvenor previously there has been a change in the manager over this year and the previous manager was excellent and maintained the high standards of this excellent pub. So I thought it only fair following a couple of recent visits for food etc., to comment that the new manager is clearly maintaining those standards, recent... More

Having just moved to the area I was introduced to this place by a relative. As a Hugh mileage traveller I can honestly say that this is one of the best pub food places I've ever eaten in. I've been several times and sampled a variety of dishes from salmon to fillet steak to curry all of which have been... More

Visited with friend today. Both had the Oxford blue cheesecake with figs for starter which was very tasty and quite unusual. The lamb tagine to follow was tender, moist and plentiful; with both bread and cous cous it left no room for pudding but the coffee was great. Overall a wonderful meal in pleasant surroundings.

We are fortunate that we only live 4 miles away from this little gem of a hostelry. Fine food and great beers and wines (including some local cask ales) are always on offer. I love the fact that they support their local brewery (Spitting Feathers) and the very popular Peckforton Spring Water. Keeps the local economy afloat! We had some... More

Went for early evening meal. I had fish and chips which I am afraid to say was greasy and the batter was soggy. At £13.45 I do not expect oven chips and certainly not scraps of tiny potato pieces . My partner had chicken and ham pie which was ok but pastry a little thick and again soggy. Overall very... More

We've been visiting here from time to time over the last 4 years and the experience gets better and better. We entertained a friend from the USA here last night who owns lots of restaurants he is very fussy with diet challenges: the service was brilliant and he loved the food. Our principle server handled him so well. We cant... More

This place runs on oiled wheels. Good welcome, very friendly chatty staff (& Manager), interesting and varied menu, lovely setting and a wide choice of table types. We chose a table for two near the rear Conservatory - it was quiet and within sight of the rear country views. Much as there were lots of enticing Mains we were heading... More

Regularly visit as we live nearby.A very popular venue with pleasant relaxed staff, serving an excellent range of delicious meals, starting with a choice of nibbles/bar snacks. One tip,on several occasions we -and other members of the family have had a meal early evening on a Sunday which disappointed us.Staff were all very busy, but seemed a bit over-reached,service was slow as a result.We... We had sunday lunch here with friends and it was delicious. The service and food was lovely, plenty of choice from the menu as you would expect from a B&P pub.
