A cold New Years Eve walk saw us arrive here and, because we were in walking boots and gear we sat in the garden. Told that it was okay to enter as they didn't mind, we chose to stay outside so were offered blankets to keep us warm. We chose open sandwiches on interesting breads and light bites and were... Good meal out with 10 of us..efficient service great food and nice and hot. We had a good evening, not really sure about the "local cheeses" that I would say it'd be fair to say they were anything but local...Brie....Shropshire Blue..local ??

Went for our usual large Christmas family get together meal. The food was delicious as always and the staff were fabulous. My own note is that the extensive menu and the Christmas menu only have one vegetarian option, which doesn't make an option for a vegetarian! It was lovely but it would be good to have a choice rather than... More

We booked on line and on arrival our table was complete with a reserved label. We were sat right next to the open fire and that was welcome being an early winter evening. We opted for the traditional English Sunday fayre. I had the roast beef done to perfection with potato, Yorkshire puds, gravy etc.

We visited here for family birthdays and the food as usual was very good. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the service. We had to ask three times for water on the table and couldn't get hold of anyone when it was time to settle the bill. The staff were young and too busy. We come here regularly but... More

Great food, great service in a lovely setting. Good kids options, and a nice beer garden with a tractor in the corner for the little ones to clamber over.

We ate here on a recent visit to Chester and were very impressed with the food and the lovely cosy atmosphere. All the dishes we had were excellant and beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and its a lovely old building. We could not fault the place or the food and would recommend eating here if in... More

Although I have reviewed the Grosvenor previously there has been a change in the manager over this year and the previous manager was excellent and maintained the high standards of this excellent pub. So I thought it only fair following a couple of recent visits for food etc., to comment that the new manager is clearly maintaining those standards, recent... More

Having just moved to the area I was introduced to this place by a relative. As a Hugh mileage traveller I can honestly say that this is one of the best pub food places I've ever eaten in. I've been several times and sampled a variety of dishes from salmon to fillet steak to curry all of which have been... More

Visited with friend today. Both had the Oxford blue cheesecake with figs for starter which was very tasty and quite unusual. The lamb tagine to follow was tender, moist and plentiful; with both bread and cous cous it left no room for pudding but the coffee was great. Overall a wonderful meal in pleasant surroundings.
