I popped in for lunch as the hotel was highly recommended to me. I sat inside at the Terrace restaurant which is quite casual and has a relaxed cafe vibe. The service was excellent. I ordered a burger and fries but I was quite disappointed...considering the price. The burger is served in a dyed black bun, and the fries were lukewarm. The meat seemed of decent enough quality, but it was generally mediocre in standard. I wouldn’t make an effort to return, but the view was very good!More

Booked a lunch here as part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme that allowed me to try a few places that would normally be somewhat over budget. There are good Covid procedures here. Temperature was taken on arrival and staff wore masks when...moving around the building and waiting at table. Movement around the building is based on a one way system. There is a slightly limited menu but enough for most tastes and, if not, there are other restaurants at The Headland Hotel with different fare. Staff were friendly, the food was cooked to order and as it was such a nice day we sat outside under a sunshade with a view looking over Fistral Beach. A pleasant way to spend over two hours.More

We visited The Terrace for lunch (we’d booked) & were seated promptly. There’s seating outside, though be aware it does get a little windy. Service was good throughout, & we were all happy with our meals, the children’s burgers, open crab sandwich and the fish...& chips. Desserts are in a cabinet, so you can have a quick browse before ordering. We all had a pleasant experience & I’d happily visit here again.More

Went to The Terrace Restaurant for a drink and a cream tea. Staff were friendly and efficient and the cream tea was lovely. The food served to other diners looked delicious. A lovely relaxing experience.

We have eaten here many times and are very fond of the Headland hotel and so it is disappointing that our experience today was somewhat lacking. We are staying in the Headland Cottages and fancied an early lunch so headed for the Terrace. On entry...to the hotel we were greeted by a member of staff who after asking whether they could help, told us they were only accommodating residents at The Terrace....when we explained we were at the cottages they apologised and let us in. A minor thing in some ways however making assumptions about who is/is not resident is somewhat judgemental and patronising and the same outcome could be achieved in a much more welcoming manner. On arrival at Terrace we were directed to a table which still had the glasses from the previous occupants....multiple servers passed us and even took our order without clearing these. They were eventually removed but the table was not cleaned (fortunately I carry antibacterial wipes and did it myself). Our order was taken reasonably quickly however the food/drink service was incredibly slow. It took forever to get two glasses of wine - I think they were actually catching the fish and treading the grapes. The food itself was fine - the burger was good and the fish and chips okay but could have been warmer. This was raised with the waitress who checked on the food, she initially walked off but did offer to replace when she walked past again (I declined due to the wait for the food initially). Overall the staff did seem to be trying hard however it was all a bit chaotic - a bit like busses nobody would serve you and then two would arrive in quick succession! Sophie was exceptional however, attentive and genuinely helpful. I really appreciate that the closure due to Covid has really affected the hospitality industry and that family run businesses and severely impacted. I therefore really do want to support these independent firms. While I understand there may be limited staff - warm, attentive service costs nothing and cleanliness has to be paramount at the present time.More

Excellent service and food especially the Afternoon Tea. Generous amount, beautifully presented and three tiers of delicate finger sandwiches, plain and fruit scones with separate lots of jam and cream and the most lovely tier of dainty pastries all brief and prepared in house. The food was delicious and a great choice within the special menu, the young lad with glasses and blonde hair called Callum was very sweet and was so good with us, he explained the menu and making sure we had our needs met he was...just a very friendly chap, during the evening the Essex girl (didn’t get her name) also served us and she was also very accommodating, recommending which dessert which we should have (the choc mousse was delicious), thank you all of you, hopefully can come back and stay at this marvellous hotel!More

This is a location we frequently come to whether or not we're actually staying at the hotel. I've previously left a gushing review, because before this visit the food had been a delight! I ordered the hake with broccoli stems, and roasted baby potatoes...it was...close to an hour befor we got our order. The fish was so dry it was like sawdust, and tasted off, just an awful flavor. No broccoli on the plate, and the potatoes tasted old and were greasy. No one apologized for the long wait, no one came over at anytime to see how everything was. We ended up getting up to pay at the counter, told about our food, the wait, no customer service...all the guy said was "sorry, I'll let the kitchen staff know." That's it. No refund, no "5" star service, nothing. So gutted. So annoyed. So let down.More
