St Ives, over priced and full for bookings a month ahead so we decided to try the recommend Navy Inn. What a terrific find. Service attentive and friendly. Menu not huge but it’s freshly cooked and caters for fish fans, vegans and meat eaters. Plus tapas and daily specials (lobster 4 ways) All perfectly cooked and presented and reasonably priced. Thanks for a perfect evening.

What a gem lovely chilled out pub/restaurant down the road from where we were staying. Luckily walked in early 5.30 and warmly welcomed. Great menu not too much and we chose from the specials. Stsrters: Mussels with Garlic & Breadcrumbs. Halloumi fries with chilli dip were beautifully prepared and served. Both of us went for the Sirloin Surf & Turf cooked to perfection and the flavour of the large garlic buttered prawns and steak was the best that we’ve had for a long long time. The chips were proper in their skins cooked in olive oil crispy and flavour some. Lovely little dressed salad to accompany our main. Dessert we shared a lemon posset as it was large and we seriously were so full yet saw someone else have it! Wow it was superb with a ginger crumbed topping. Drinks - I’m not a wine lover so went for the Cornish gin and tonic ooof niiice. Hubby had a couple of pints of lager - he says it was great. The service was brilliant the lady that served us told us that the owners were away and she was doing a fab job. Every customer enjoyed their food and the bill with a tip was not expensive and worth every penny. Thank you and we will return!

Found by accident but truly a delightful find. Just recently re-opened following new ownership and refurbishment. Owners very welcoming and dog friendly. Beer, wine and good reasonably priced with a good selection. Mussels were wonderfully sized and the mackerel nicoise (pictured) was incredible value. Already looking forward to an evening visit before I leave. Thank you for a lovely lunch and great hospitality you’ve added a tale to our holiday.

A very enjoyable meal - the seafood chowder was superb - I just manaaged to stop myself licking the plate. We are returning shortly, when I want to try one of the speciality mussel dishes. To the poster who complained that the online menu was out of date - you should direct your complaint to the publisher of the website where you found it, not the pub itself, which doesn't have a website!

Menu choice and value was good but the service and quality of the food was exceptional making the value even better. We had the mussels in creamy sauce, the the 5 bean chilli and a shared black berry Eton Mesh. Such a shame we were only visiting the area otherwise we would be returning on a regular basis.

Really pleased to have visited the Navy Inn this evening. On the outside, it looks like a locals watering hole, and inside a basic pub layout. However, the Beer was good and the food even better. I had the baked Camembert for my starter with the Catch of the Day, steamed Hake. The fish was cooked well and sat on a bed of vegetables and served with new potatoes. For dessert, a delicious Creme Brûlée. Would recommend a visit, you won’t be disappointed!!

Owners were very welcoming & accommodating. Prompt efficient service, but unfortunately the food let the experience down. The seafood share starter for £18 was a bit of a shock, a very small dish of mussel(no flavour) which was surprising as having read the reviews regarding the Moules, I was expecting something good, two small prawns that didn’t taste of garlic, tiny amount of anchovies, & 6 tiny calamari rings that weren’t seasoned, the starter was hardly enough for one let alone sharing it. The Hake was cooked very well, but accompaniments let the dish down, carrots & some new pots, maybe they were having an off night(it wasn’t busy) or covid is tugging on the purse strings, but I’m afraid we won’t be returning.

Wow what a find during a few days away in Penzance. We came in initially for a drink and was welcomed by Dimitri, what a lovely gent. The pub restaurant is a true social place with a warm friendly atmosphere. We returned for my birthday meal, starters of goats cheese soufflé and mushroom and black garlic pate, followed by main courses of fish chowder and haddock fish cake from the specials board. The fish which included smoked haddock, mussels and king prawns were so succulent and tender, they were second to none. Please, if you’re in Penzance give your custom and support to this wonderful family run restaurant, I’m sure you won’t regret a visit.

My wife and I took friends to the Navy Inn for a meal a couple of weeks ago. We were made to feel very welcome by our host Dimitry and promptly served with drinks (Do try the Jail Ale from Dartmoor - very tasty). The food was simply scrumptious. The mussels were some of the best I have ever tasted and the fish chowder was pretty special too. All in all a great dining experience. Thank you Carmen and Dimitry - we'll certainly recommend you to our B&B guests and friends.

We booked a Sunday Roast based on the pervious reviews and we were not disappointed. Their reputation is well deserved, the food was great quality and served piping hot. We had the beef roast which was lovely and the mussels which were similarly good. The pub itself is light, airy and clean. The ale was well kept and there were several local brews on offer. The service was great, welcoming and friendly as well a being very efficient. I would recommend the Navy Inn for families and other dinners alike.

Navy Inn is a very interesting place in Penzance with excellent food, a big choice of seafood and especially delicious mussels! The manager was very polite and helped us to find other options for food when we first came too late. Then we came 3 times to eat at Navy Inn booking in advance our lunch and dinner and trying many of their specialties. It’s not like a usual inn food, it is a great seafood restaurant! Mussels and Navy Inn Chowder are must to try! And the rose Prosecco, very tasty!

Been twice so far this holiday and are booked in again at the end of the week. The staff are friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, we had steak which whilst being very reasonable in price was absolutely gorgeous , the whole meal was very enjoyable. Also I asked if we could just have some ciabatta as a starter as it was mentioned on the menu as part of another starter. Not only was this ok, but they offered to make it into garlic ciabatta for us, when it arrived it was scrumptious

Party of 10 ate here for a mates birthday last Saturday. Great menu - awesome variety of fresh mussels to pick from. Steak cooked medium rare to perfection, everyone else had theirs cooked as they wanted. Service was nothing short of excellent with an attentive front of house waiter. Wide beer selection to pick from, including local Cornish ales. Have recommended to family and friends who have just booked in for Sunday lunch. Being local will definitely return.

Three of us went here for an early evening meal and it was excellent. We shared a couple of starters (Breaded mushrooms with a dip & a small tricolore salad of tomatoes, Mozzarella slices and pesto dressing) which were excellent. My wife and her sister had the Chowder for main course which was brilliant, served in a cooking pot with loads of mussels, fish and large prawns. I had battered local hake with home made chips and it was the best I have ever had. I am well over 70 and have been eating fish n chips since I was a kid and this was the best. Cost was reasonable. Very highly recommended.

A hidden gem! This pub was not one we had noticed during our stay in Penzance. We had been disappointed by other places and had booked here as a last resort. Well this is an absolute gem! The best steak my partner has ever had and the fish was done to perfection (we are seaside people so know a well cooked fish when we see one!) The staff were friendly and attentive and they serve a good selection of wines etc. Thank you! Our stay in Penzance was worth it!
