A fantastic meal once again at the Singing Rooster. Great choices on the menu and we were not disappointed with the stuffed cabbage leaves and meat filled pasta. Drinks were reasonably priced and we finished with desserts and coffee (meringue with cream, blackberries and fruit coulis and warm apple cake). Only open for dinner on a Friday and Saturday evening and was relatively quiet for a Saturday in the Summer hols. Whether you are holidaying or local, give this place a try. You won't regret it. A rare jewel in Penzance's varied eateries.

I booked here for dinner on a Saturday evening on our first night in Penzance as we enjoy Polish cuisine. We showed up a few minutes early, but were seated right away. I felt that the waiter was attentive, as was the chef, who came out to speak with us. I have an allergy to plant peppers and paprika, and the chef was able to advise me on what not to eat.
I ended up ordering the pierogi, which was excellent. Different from how I make it but very tasty.
The place is small, and many people were turned away because they had not secured a booking for dinner, so keep that in mind.
There were several options to choose from on the menu and it was quite varied to appeal to various likes.
I'd highly recommend enjoying a meal here.

We came here for dinner on a wet and windy day in August, and the food was both delicious and filling.
We had bigos - a delicious stew featuring pork and dried fruits - and the schnitzel, both of which were tasty and satisfying. They came served with sauerkraut and mashed potato, and portion sizes were generous.
We didn't have a reservation but the staff accommodated us, politely checking we were OK to be seated near a table with a reservation including a couple of dogs. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, and the decor quirky and pleasant.
Would strongly recommend trying this place - it is maybe not the first cuisine you associate with a Cornish seaside location, but well worth seeking out.

Stopped here for a light lunch on our way to the Minack, on the recommendation of one of our friends who used to work in Penzance. Really enjoyed the goulash soup, competitively priced and interesting menu, our host was very courteous, friendly and helpful, and I liked the decor.
If I still worked and lived here, then the Singing Rooster would be a regular lunch venue for me!

I first visited Singing Rooster some 18 months ago and was impressed with the quality and authenticity of Polish food. Salads were to die for!
Unfortunately, it is quite some distance from Bristol so used it a treat and came especially this February. It was as good as I remembered, customer service most welcome and accommodating and took lunch and quite few cakes away with me to enjoy at home. I also need to say that owner is most dedicated to explain the dishes and ingredients to customers that might not be familiar with Polish cuisine. Will be definitely coming again when I have a day to spare for 6h round trip from Bristol :) Thank you!

Beautiful food- terrible service….
We ran slightly late but called to make the restaurant aware!
Service with a smile? Not here! The server was rude! We were given a 10min warning to get our order in… ABSOLUTELY FINE, we appreciate that and was very quick to order! Food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious, credit where it’s due! The website states closure at 3pm! We were not informed that they wanted to close at 2.30 and why take an order at 1.50 if the kitchen closes at 2pm and you want us out by 2.30? Simply take the customers money and that’s it! Had we have been informed that they wanted to close, we could have made the decision to go elsewhere and this could have been avoided! We would have liked to have had another drink but the server made it clear that was not welcome! On clearing the plates I said “shall we get the bill to the table” and the server said “yes! as we are closing”. The bill was then brought over and rather than giving us a minute to look, he was already standing over us with the card machine! When asking for 1 minute to look and discuss sharing the bill he rolled his eyes and stormed off! We used the toilet before leaving (as we have grandparents and a toddler) that made him scorn! This was our first meal out in Cornwall as a family! Fortunately we have been to many other restaurants that have been family friendly! Again, food was great- I categorically wouldn’t return as I’d rather give my business to people that appreciate their customers… especially having a chef in the family and knowing how hard the industry has been hit since covid!
I am also not someone who likes to leave negative reviews… however this server was incredibly rude and we didn’t deserve to be treated so badly! My husband and I eat our very regularly and I can say hand on heart- this is the most uncomfortable we have ever been made to feel!

We were told about a lovely polish restaurant in Penzance by a local artist who was already an aficionado, and I have to say that when we finally visited the Singing Rooser exceeded all expectation. The atmosphere was lovely, with colourful individually decorated tables and cockerel themed cushions, but it was the food that was the real star. My dish was generous, beautifully presented and my partner’s equally mouth watering. The choice of salads and range of vegan option was impressive, and everything seemed made with care, attention and delicate touch. The beetroot carpaccio was out of this world! So pleased were we with our first visit that we came back for a romantic evening meal, and we were regaled with more wonderfully tasty traditional polish food - indeed second to none . The beer and desserts were perfect and the friendly service really made our evening. We are sure to visit again, and would strongly recommend this place to anyone in the Penzance area looking for a feast for their tastebuds and great value for money.

We had an excellent lunch here while visiting Penzance. The service was warm and attentive, and the food - bigos and mushrooms cooked in cream and served with pickles and salads - was delicious. We also had cakes for dessert, which were excellent. I'd encourage anyone looking for something a bit different in Penzance to drop in, as it's a hidden gem and was one of my favourite meals of the holiday.

Fabulous lunch. I had vegetable soup, with sorrel. Wonderful flavour. One friend had goulash soup, yummy. Another course was potato cakes, butternut squash with dill, topping with salads, lastly vegan Bigos. Sauerkraut stew with tofu, lentils, forest mushrooms dried fruits and wine.fantastic.
All recipes we had never tried before.
The host was lovely, friendly, amusing and knowledgeable about his food.
We went for a birthday and we will be going again……..and again……

My wife and I were recommended to visit the Singing Rooster by a family member, and booked ahead by telephone, choosing the six o’clock sitting. We were immediately made most welcome on arrival, and liked the informal and attractive way the restaurant is presented, organised and decorated. There were plenty of good choices of authentic European cooking from the blackboard menu, including worthwhile vegan options, and the prices were affordable for all dishes. Our starters and main courses were both wonderful, especially the beetroot soup starter, for which our host generously shared the recipe with us. We chose a reasonably priced bottle of Rose Cava to drink, noticing there were also three polish beers on the drinks menu which would have also been enjoyable.. We did not have room for dessert, but again the choices were very good, and desserts we saw going to other tables looked amazing. All in all we very much enjoyed our first visit to the Singing Rooster for a nice atmosphere, lovely food, and most of all a very warm and generous welcome.

Ohhh this place is so great! Traveling for a week in England, and this dinner was a total highlight. Pieroshki ;) like my Nana used to make. So delicious and fresh. My friend got the Lanzanki, and absolutely loved it. A small, intimate restaurant open for lunch and dinner with lovely welcoming staff - check hours and days and make reservation if you can. Just a wonderful eatery that you will not regret visiting. Thank you, Tomas, for wonderful dinner and some Polish pronunciations!

This is such an authentic Polish restaurant you could imagine Lech Walesa turning up to discuss Solidarnosc
Proper Eastern European food served with oodles of flavour and no frills
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is becaue the wine list of almost four wines could be better
But a great authentic experience of robust Polish dishes with charismatic Polish service

On our first visit to Cornwall since Covid we were delighted to find this little gem of a restaurant still here. We require gluten free meals and there was ample choice available for each course. I chose the bigos and my husband had a dish of meat and rice in cabbage leaves, both were delicious. We then had baked cheesecake which was light and fluffy. Very well looked after by attentive host. We will def return when next in Cornwall.

It was a dark and stormy night in Penzance. Luckily, intrepid diners that we are, we ventured out. What good luck should befall us! The Singing Rooster. Vegan pierogis and vegan bigosi. Outstanding! Tasty Polish beer, and house-baked desserts: a light chocolate cake with raisins infused with cherry vodka and a berry tart. Lovely atmosphere and decor and a delightful host. 5 starts.

Penzance has many places to eat, most of them decent, but let's be honest, most tend to provide similar food. Not so at the Singing Rooster. If you want something that's just a bit different, wholesale, great value, and simply superb, look no further than the Singing Rooster. On our recent stay in Cornwall we went twice for lunch and agreed it was the best food during our two weeks. Even our greyhound was made welcome with a Polish treat! The menu is varied to suit all tastes and changes daily. Miss it, and you've simply missed out on a great eating experience!
