Excellent run pub, At least 8 real Ciders as well as10 real ale's on at all times. Bar staff are excellent always ready to serve you don't wait long to be served even when it's busy. There's all kinds of board games to play supplied by the pub including darts, Regular Poker nights, And regular entertainment in the cellar bar.... More

This is a rather basic and dated pub which reflects the area it is in on Mutley Plain. However the staff were warm and friendly and the beer was a good range and not over priced. These are proper pub people and I would definitely go again.

If you're the kind of person who likes sitting in a quiet pub, sipping weak beer and pondering over food hygiene then you're in luck, there's a Weatherspoons up the rd for you! For the rest of us who enjoy good beer, good music and staff with character there's the fort!

Had looked forward to visiting the pub of the year for 2016 but left a little disappointed. There was a good number of ales on tap but not one of them under 4%, not everyone wants to drink at the stronger end of the scale. Could do with a couple of session beers on the bar. The pub itself is... More

This a great CAMRA pub with character, serving excellent beers. I have been a regular customer for a number of years. The landlord and his team are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and ciders served. Does not serve food all of the time, but does on Sunday and Rugby games. I would strongly recommend this place.

Lovely, friendly pub. Well stocked with the finest local ales and ciders. Great atmosphere to relax with friends. Best pub on the Plain! Fab roast on a Sunday with spingo gravy too :)

We've only been visiting the Fort for about 3 months but always get a warm welcome from the excellent bar team. There are always plenty of interesting people to chat too, which is a rarity in itself, a very relaxed atmosphere although the beer is taken very seriously. There are usually 8 or so ales to choose from (think kid... More

A fantastic Real Ale House in Plymouth, 9-10 Real Ales and Real Cider too...an oasis in a desert of rubbish bars and crappy pubs. The Sunday Roast at £4.99 is a must! At other times feel free to bring in your own food from the myriad of food outlets in the near vicinity.
