Called in for a drink it was very cramped and not my cup of tea. The music was a bit old fashioned for us.

Excellent food and service, the older guy Richard who got us a table inside to listen to the great live music, was brilliant, we’ve never seen anyone work as hard as him.

We ate here twice in three days and the food was good both times. On the first occasion the service was excellent but the second time it was very poor even though a number of the same staff were on. On the second occasion we...were asked to go 30 minutes earlier than our preferred time , which we agreed to. On arrival we were seated at the same out of the way table as previously and asked to move to one of many free tables in the main part of the restaurant and we were allowed to do so with no problem. The restaurant never filled up so we don't know why we could not have had the time slot we wanted or if the poor service was due to asking for a move.More

Loved this pub. We had booked a table for food and were seated quickly. The man who seated us (?? Manager or Supervisor??) had excellent knowledge of his menu. We took his recommendation and went for the trio of fish with dauphinois potatoes and I...can honestly say it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection with spot on portion sizes. There was live music in the bar and he managed to get us a table after our dinner which was much appreciated. Fantastic service, excellent food, you must go!More

Lovely gluten free lamb Sunday lunch with superb proper delicious gravy. We love the history and atmosphere in this olde pub we try to visit every time we come to Torquay on holiday. The food is always first class and they can do gluten free...options on request. Highly recommended.More

We ate here several times during our holiday to Torquay. It’s a hidden gem in a side street. Torquay’s oldest pub with plenty of charm & character. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. Sunday Lunch was probably the best I’ve ever eaten . The...french onion soup was amazing to start with followed by the lamb and roast beef. All was cooked to perfection . We returned when we enjoyed the excellent trio of fish. Fresh mussels and fillet beef steak. All was Beautifully presented . Id like to compliment the chief &thank all the staff At The Hole In The Wall ,Torquay! 5 starMore

I had scampi and chips and apple tart and custard. Very nice food and polite staff. I would reccomend this place. If I'm to be honest I know it's the oldest pub in torquay I personally think a little refurb wouldn't go a miss

Seen on line this is the oldest pub in Torquay so thought we d try it. Very pleasant staff serving us. Food looked good as we didn't eat. Worth a visit as a lovely building and not far from the centre up a small hill
