Dropped in for a casual lunch with family. Attentive staff and homely atmosphere, enjoyed croque Monsieur and a burger. Lovely location, beautiful Autumn colours. Will visit again.

Popped in following a walk around Berry Pomeroy castle. It's all a bit surreal. It's a wet, late Autumn afternoon, there's the smell of wood smoke coming through the trees and the distant sound of sporting guns. Stepping through the door brings you into another world. The log burner inside is going full pelt and there's a lovely cosy atmosphere.... More

Introduced to the Castle Cafe by our daughter and went for coffee a couple of times. It's in a lovely setting and the home made cakes are first class! Had a friend staying so decided to go for Sunday lunch and it was superb. Probably the best pork roast I have ever had. Excellent meat and good selection of vegetables.... More

Visited today on a blustery but clear autumnal Sunday. Staff were very attentive and pleasant. Ordered cheese sandwich and salmon sandwich. Whilst advertised as seeded bloomer bread which technically we got at £6.45 and £9 or so I expected a stonker of a doorstep. Instead two very serviceable sarnies arrived but with very thinly sliced bread. Whilst tasty nothing really... More

We received a warm and friendly welcome at this pretty cabin style cafe overlooking the castle ruins. Enjoyed delicicious tea and cake in front of the wood burning stove and even the dog was made to feel very much at home. Looking forward to our next visit.

Visited on Monday 3rd October by 2-hourly bus from Totnes and then a mile walk along the lane and down the private drive to the castle having checked beforehand that the castle and facilities were open. Nothing on the English Heritage website or Google to suggest the cafe was shut. We had no food or drink with us. Had planned... More

After walking around the ruins on a cold damp day all I wanted was a hot drink and food. No one acknowledged that we were waiting to be served, no menu given to us so had no idea what was on offer, in the end we opted for a coffee and a bottle of water, which husband went up to... More

We had lunch here with two teenagers the other day and there was something for us all to eat. It was lovely food and good service. The location was great right by the old ruins.

Amazing cakes, great service, lovely staff and reasonably priced! Worth the drive to visit the cafe, the castle itself next to it is a bit meh. The cafe is amazing!

Visited the castles cafe today. Went in and collected two menus, sat outside with menus and decided what we wanted, we then sat and waited twenty minutes to be served and was ignored. A family sat down at a table next to us and were seen to straight away while we tried to gain eye contact with staff and were... More

As you rightly say Bones 358 and Paul J this was a mistake on our part and we regret that you were made to wait so long that you didn't get to try our cream tea. We can only apologise for this. We value the custom of all visitors to our cafe and aim to give everyone a good time.... More
