The food was fantastic! I particularly enjoyed the brownie which was so chocolatey and gooey. It came with the smoothest, creamiest ice cream I've ever tasted. The service was spot on! Very friendly and welcoming. I couldn't have asked for more. This was my first trip to Amala; I had been a long time ago when it was Zoukinis, but... More

A great, relaxed dining experience with friendly staff, and lovely food. So much flavour and attention to detail. I plan a return visit this week!

My partner and I enjoy vegan food and are always looking for new dishes to try so we thought we'd come here. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We had the brownie for dessert, which was completely tasteless! We would not come back again even though the service was good.

We ate here to try it out, both loving tasty vegetarian and vegan food, but we were very disappointed. Zero atmosphere, as we were the only diners at 8pm on a Thursday, and we were a bit shocked at the prices - £14 for the main course my partner had and it (nut roast) wasn't anything special. The decor is... More

A new menu with fantastic jack fruit pancakes. The service was personal and warm . I would recommend to anyone wanting a great vegan food experience to go

My daughter and I were visiting the area for an open day at Bournemouth University. My daughter is vegan so when travelling we always plan ahead with the restaurants we will visit, this one was top of our list. We popped in on a Saturday morning not realizing that breakfasts were only served on a Sunday (our fault). But the... More

Visited with family. Delicious food beautifully presented. Don't worry about it being vegan. If you are used to vegetarian food this is just as good. Slightly uncomfortable chairs and table with legs in the wrong place.

We thought we would try something completely different and we are so glad we did. The advantage of a Sunday visit is an all day vegan breakfast that the kids loved (whilst sitting on the floor) and a two and three course offer which the adults took full advantage of (whilst seated). The food was beautifully presented, the service excellent... More

We were 3 bags deep into a 6 strong multipack of Walkers Salt & Vinegar, attempting to get over our disastrous visit to The Eye of The Tiger when we saw Amala's sign from our bus seats and made the split second decision to alight. On arrival the place itself is stunning. Beautiful decor, understated yet attractive lighting and a... More

It's good to find a truly vegan restaurant and I so want to like this little place, but when the service is lacking then it really does spoil the experience, however outstanding the food. When the waitress forgets what you have ordered and the overall attention from all staff is disjointed, then you think twice about going back. Everything we... More

Description
Established as Zoukinis in 2008 as a vegetarian restaurant, this gem has recently undergone a major facelift and is now called amala. (2016) Amala is now a purely vegan restaurant offering a conscious eating experience with what some would call 'vegan gourmet cuisine' with delicate and robust flavour and texture combinations - all purely plant-based. Whatever it may be, we are committed to offering real food, prepared simply and with love, using organic and local ingredients where possible and practical. Many of our 5 star review mention the friendliness of the staff, the soothing and calming atmosphere (even when we're busy which is more and more!) of the environment and of course - many takes pictures and comment on the delicious food! Most important to us is how YOU FEEL at the end of the MEAL (or experience as we like to call it). That is our focus and our strive. Daniel & the team at amala
