The restaurant itself is beautiful and perfect for a ‘grown-up’ evening. The staff are polite and attentive and the food is delicious. We experienced some problems however, which took the shine off an otherwise perfect night:- We are both in our eighties and a bit...doddery (but recycled teenagers at heart) and the lack of exterior lighting was a problem, especially for me as I have never fully recovered from a stroke and multiple fractures to my spine in a car accident, so making our way from the car to the entrance was nerve racking, made worse by the fact that two coaches blocked access to the car park. The steps to the main entrance were also a problem. If there is an alternative, it was not evident, in the dark. Once inside, we were greeted and seated by a lovely young lady. So far, so good! Then the menu arrived and the problems began. Everything sounded delicious but for medical reasons, my husband is on a low carb diet. This is usually easily overcome by making minor adjustments to the dishes. We asked if he could have a starter of prawns on a green salad but was told that the restaurant didn’t have prawns as they ‘go off’ quickly. I suggested a small green salad on it’s own but this wasn’t available either and the waiter told us that “If it’s not on the menu, we haven’t got it”. My husband had the lamb with feta. I ate the feta! We both had steak for mains. The meat was delicious and cooked to perfection but my husband could not have the chips and ordered a side dish of green beans instead We paid extra for this, which I thought was unnecessary. My own meal was perfect and the chips were probably the best Inhave ever tasted. Sadly, for the above reasons, we are unlikely to return to the Arbor.More

Had a meal at Arbor Restaurant with my partner Monday night. Her starter of soy glazed chicken thigh was extremely salty. I had the pork for main which has to be one of the tasteless pieces of pork I have ever had we mentioned this to...the waiter who just dismissed the feedback. The sweet was still frozen from the freezer. So I would avoid if you can. Also the local fish was stone bass which isn't caught in our local watersMore

Thanks for sharing on here. Its just a shame you didn't mention about the saltiness to the waiter when he checked back with you. He also noted that as there was none of the pork left, the comment was probably not founded as you ate...More

We had a wonderful meal here during our weekend away with friends. From the minute we stepped into the hotel we were made to feel welcome. The food was absolutely amazing! It was the type of main course you just didn’t want to end (...beef cheeks) We had the most loveliest waitress she was polite, helpful and very friendly. I have recommend to all my friendsMore

Wanted a 'nice' meal whilst staying in Bournemouth and came across Arbor via Trip Advisor reviews. Starters of gnocchi and soup were good, followed by the lamb and hake - the hake was very tasty and was a little different for a fish dish. Husband...managed dessert (maple and pecan pie) and declared it very good. Drink prices were very reasonable. Had an enjoyable evening with good food and service.More

Visited as a couple during our holiday in Bournemouth. From the start the service was great though it was obvious that they are stretched in these present times. Starters were the duck egg and duck with Tarragon mayonnaise. Lovely rich and satisfying. A great start....Mains: one of our favourite things to do is eat out. By far the braised beef cheeks was the best main course I've ever experienced. Delicious, tender an absolute delight. My partner had the rump of lamb, tender, tasty with a Greek influence. Really good. My dessert was a lovely Pannacotta with pressed strawberries. The Tiramasu Martini was so so good my partner had 2. Probably would have had another 2 if there was room... Overall it was simply wonderfulMore

Well. Where to start. Good ambience and the staff are really friendly. Helped me choose a dish. Happened to be a steak and it was cooked to perfection. Will be back again. I would recommend if you haven't tried.

We went out as a group of 6 for a much needed nice thing to do and catch up with friends after a mad 18 months. The dining room was beautifully appointed making it feel comfortable to eat and be sociable in. The staff were...professional and engaging with smooth and efficient service and timely courses. We all loved the food and there were lots of positive comments about all of the varied three courses we had. The food was classically presented and looked great on the matched plates. The food could not have looked any better when it arrived at the table, and the taste and flavours matched the look, so all in all a high quality and incredibly enjoyable meal.More
