Went for Breakfast, absolutely lovely fresh produce all cooked to order, bit more expensive than your roadside cafe but definitely worth the money. Attentive service, nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be back.

This place is really good value for money, beautiful garden to relax for lunch in. We only went as I had a massage next door booked in and we are not from the area. Friendly staff and beautiful scones and tea, highly recommended thank you. :)

We found this tea room walking through the village. Both my husband and myself enjoyed a tuna and red onion sandwich which was very full, chocolate cake and scone which were both delicious. So in all we really enjoyed ourselves. This was about half past two. Our daughter arrived starving after having had an awful journey from Berkshire and so... More

My husband and I wanted to see the snowdrops at the church at Alfriston on Tuesday and having had a stroll around the village, felt in need of something warming to eat and drink for lunch. On our way back to the car park, we spotted the Badgers and looking through the windows, liked what we saw and went in.... More

Quaint neat and clean tea shop. Very pleased that there was a fire on as it was a very damp and cold day. We were indecisive as to what to choose, we ordered coffee whilst reading the menu. The Americano coffee taken with cream was hot and fresh, it was the best quality cup of coffee I have drunk for... More

Alfriston is the prettiest of villages in the Cuckmere valley and this tea house serves it well. The gooseberry and Elderflower sponge is delicious and everything was well presented and served quickly. Contrary to some negative reviews I found the staff very friendly- however it seems that the menu is not at all negotiable which is a shame as you... More

Tucked away in the village, this quaint traditional tea house is a lovely place to escape to when able. They serve great cream teas and scones in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

Description
Welcome to our historic tea house! Alfriston was granted its market charter in 1406, and the house at Badgers dates from 1510 – over 500 years old! We know it was the village bakery for 200 years until 1933, and proprietor Michael Luttig and manager Lynn Attfield continue the tradition of exceptional baking on the premises. “Dissenters” from St Andrews Church met here in the late 18th Century until they built their own independent church (now the United Reformed Church) in 1801. We even have a Standing Stone in the pavement outside the front door…
