It is not often you can go into a tea room/cafe and find more gluten-free cakes on offer than non-gluten free. The Singing Kettle is perfect for coeliacs or anyone having to follow a 'free-from' diet-the owner is gluten free so an expert! I noticed on the menu that they also cater for dairy-free and vegans. Although small, The Singing... More

This place is special, the service, the food, the perfect location, so so welcoming its like visiting old friends. This time I had avocado, poached egg & bacon with sweet chilli... wonderful combination! Even though I was full, I made room for one of their amazing huge scones with jam & cream... a delight! This is one of those places... More

The 3 of us stopped for an afternoon cream tea, we were fortunate enough to find an outside table in the spring sunshine, the tables are meant for 2 people but we managed to squeeze 3 on to it. The service was good and the scones delicious however the cream was clearly from a pressurised can and was disappointing to... More

Stopped here for a sunny lunch outside. Had warm cheese scones, the best I have tasted for a long time, and enjoyed a good coffee. We had abandoned Beachy Head as the fog was very thick, but Alfriston shone in the 16degrees sunshine!!!

Had a wonderful bacon sandwich for breakfast. Homemade bread and local bacon. The food is just so good. Bought 2 special cheese scones to take home as well.

Arrived on a wet, cold afternoon to be very warmly greeted by the owner. This is such a cosy place, worth the wait if it's busy. We had already breakfasted at home so we ordered a light lunch of celeriac and thyme soup with very large, warm herby scone and cheese for me and gluten free bubble and squeak for... More

Very enjoyable trip to the tea room, we ate two open sandwiches (one with bacon/brie/avo, and the other with salmon/rocket/lemon) they were delicious! We followed with some tea and a yummy scone! All staff were very welcoming and friendly and the array of cakes were very impressive!! We would definitely go back to this little gem!

The good was yummy. A good variety of cakes and the hot chocolate is a go tip drink. We go every year and love it. Lovely staff. Recommend to anyone passing

This little cafe is really cute (small but cosy), the staff are really nice and the food is good! Also, the teas are REALLY nice. A good place to go if you're in Alfriston :)

There are normally a few lovely cakes in the window (and even more inside), and the generous slices taste delicious! Last summer I had a Bakewell cake and last week I had a beautiful, moist carrot cake. I was disappointed that I was full up, when a freshly-baked Strawberries & Cream sponge was put on display shortly after I had... More

Description
Overlooking the enchanting village square, the singing kettle tea house idyllically looks out on village life. Inside you'll find calming contemporary farrow & ball decor with arty wall hangings and in the warmer months you can choose to sit out front and watch the world go by, or hide away in the delightfully secluded walled garden A long established tea house with a renowned reputation for fabulous innovative cakes, sweet & savoury scones and excellent customer service. But it's much more than a tearoom, for lunch you could have one of the various takes on welsh rarebit or opt for an open sandwich or toastie on hand cut bread, maybe try the delicious soup all of which is prepared and cooked for you on the premises. It's all simply lip smacking.
