Always serves excellent Chinese food; good vegetarian option. The aubergine dish is exceptional. Simple surroundings; good wine list

There is a wide choice of Chinese restaurants in Preston Street, and in terms of decor and value this probably sits in the middle. However, the food is excellent and the service attentive. We especially liked the seafood, scallops and squid. There are two menus, a shorter, more conventional dishes, and a more extensive menu for the more adventurous. Portions... More

If you ever want to try a Chinese restaurant, then I advise you to visit Good Friends. If you want my recommendation, I loved the roasted duck vermicelli. It's wonderful and of course, you won't have to wait too long for the food to be served upon you.

Preston Street is restaurant paradise - whatever you want, it's there. We chose Good Friend because it looked well-patronised, and the set menu looked delicious. And we had, without doubt, one of the best Chinese meals we've had anywhere. The wine was good too, and the service impeccable. Not the cheapest - but worth the price we paid.

Food was okay helpful staff more expensive than the Midlands by about £1 50. Can't pay by card under £10 that's okay for sit down not for take away.

A gem in Brighton. I ordered roasted pork which many Chinese restaurants have but are very challenging to perfect it. Found out that I absolutely love it. I used to try the same dish at Four Season in London but this is way better. Other dishes are also good. The staffs are very friendly.

For more interesting dishes ask for the Chinese menu and mix in a few dishes with you usual favourites. ( it's in English). Love the aubergine hotpot with pork. Service is always good.

We fancied a Chinese and had booked for 3 people. We then raised this to 8 but 15 of us turned up. The staff didn't bat an eyelid and quickly had us all seated by pushing 2 big tables together. Having a famous politician with us also led to further disruption but the other customers and staff were great. A... More

Ended up visiting on the off chance after a day wandering around Brighton and lucky they had a few seats left. We were quickly seated upstairs and taken care of by very attentive and friendly staff. We ordered duck rolls for starters and seczuan chicken and kung po for mains. Both of us loved the food but what really stood... More

Early evening visit whilst working away from home, I had been walking around looking for a place that was busy as this is usually a sign of good food & sensible prices. Service was fast and friendly, the food was fresh, hot & tasty although I have to say it was far from the best Chinese meal I have eaten.
