We went on a Sunday purely for the roast. A reliable source had told me it was the best roast dinner in the world (!) and I have to say it didn't disappoint. Great veg, carrot, kale, beetroot. Really nicely cooked potato, good and crisp with a soft centre and the most amazing belly pork. I've no idea how they... More

We've moved away from the area, so it's been a while since this was our local. But I'm happy to report the food and atmosphere are as great as ever and I was delighted that I chose to spend my birthday here with 10 friends.

We had high hopes for the chimney house... unfortunately it was very very disappointing. The reason it gets 2 stars rather than 1, is that the starter was actually really nice. The mains however were over cooked and we both ended up leaving most of it. We had different dishes and both were as bad as the other. If I... More

A friendly local with a good reputation for Sunday roasts , normally go in on a Sunday and I'm always made to feel welcome , end of service they put out roast pots and Yorkshires on the bar but be quick , they get snapped up before they get out of the kitchen 👌🍻😜

The food was overpriced for what it was. We tried some of the random things on the menu, like Reindeer moss and it was pointless, not tasty and it just felt like they were trying too hard. However, the pig head croquettes were delicious. Over all we were all pretty underwhelmed by our meal and the experience so we won't... More

Six of us celebrated a friends birthday, not the norm for us to venture to off the beaten track from the centre of Brighton or Hove, but it was well worthwhile. A good vibrant bar area and busy dining section. The menu is not extensive but well thought out and uses a lot of local produce. It also has properly... More

The food was really delicious. The chef is a real chef! The staff were so nice and polite. Atmosphere was nice, too. Perhaps they could drop the price slightly so as to get a 5* rating.

Roast pork is very good always perfectly cooked - great crackling. great roasties and they put left overs on the counter around 3pm...really good veg and ridiculous attention to detail with the puddings (!) they must have a chef just for those, the rubarb and custard pud was a hit. though. ~The one with strange berries was not at all... We live within 3 miles of here and have been twice. A great pub environment but now more of a dining environment with the open kitchen and all.....very friendly and efficient service, menu changed daily and an ok wine list. Good draught ales and beer. But why a 4 ? appetisers over priced I'm afraid, should have more below £6... More

Our third visit here, in company with more regular patrons, was prefaced by seeing the recent modest review. Happy to report both food and service, provided a lovely relaxed lunch, washed down with Harveys as a bonus. Until next time.

Description
Located just a short walk from Seven Dials, the Chimney House offers something for everyone from a cup of tea and a slice of cake, pint of Harveys, glass of prosecco, dirty little burger or a relaxed three course meal.

We strive to source our ingredients from within Sussex with fish from Shoreham and Newhaven, fruit and vegetables from local farms and glasshouses as well as meat from Garlic Wood Farm.

We are open all day Tuesday to Sunday and look forward to seeing you even if its just for a jar of chutney.
