We always try to come here when we visit Brighton and it never disappoints, fantastic food especially the wild mushroom tagliatelle that I had! We tried a bottle of Hughes Beguet from Jura which was incredible. This place definitely makes you feel like you are sat in Paris or Bordeaux instead of Brighton and is a perfect escape from the... From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. The food was brilliant and service 10/10 although a little more variety on the mains would of been better.

Whilst wondering around Brighton looking for somewhere that would seat two at prime time on a Saturday we came across Plateau and I'm glad we did. Slightly over complicated menu but once we had asked a member of staff to unravel it and reassure us our picks were going to be amazing, we then waited for our food. When the... More

Took my grown up foodie daughter for lunch and a catch up Welcomed with aperitif at the bar whilst our table was prepared . sat next to famous actor and enjoyed a relaxed drink . Ordered oysters followed by the sea food sharing platter - great wine and beautiful apple tarte tatin to follow . Good service and unrushed -... More

What struck me immediately was the quality of the music: far more left field and interesting than the aural wallpaper one usually hears. The cocktails were beautifully made and presented along with a lovely range of cheeses and membrillo. An excellent night spot.

Wow.... Where do I start. From the moment I walked through the door with my girlfriend on a stormy 19th November we were greeted with warmth and smiles. Shown to our table within minutes. Wine list was good, and the menu was amazing, but more than that was the taste, it was a taste like I have never experienced before,... More

Stopped by for a drink at the bar and afternoon snack and came back next day for Sunday lunch and fell in love with this place. Quite small place – so best to book.

With many places to choose from in Brighton we thought we would give this place a try. We went here for that man's birthday lunch and we were not disappointed. We opted for the 3 courses for £20, with a £2 sup for the steak. Excellent ingredients and all beautifully cooked. Sadly we didn't try the wine, but the menu... More

Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
