Had a business lunch here late August. The service was second to none - staff knew exactly what to recommend & their knowledge of the menu was impeccable. Food was good however, my sea bream was a little too oily. Venue is great but the...More

Went for a Saturday lunch & booked. The booking system (if they have one) seems pretty random. Possibly based on what you look like or how they feel at a particular moment - tables are apparently 'booked' and later become 'unbooked' for no clear reason...More

Our second visit, having been here on our last trip to Brighton, was unfortunately not nearly as good as our first. It is easy to see why this restaurant is so popular, the atmosphere is good and buzzy and the restaurant is well decorated and...More

Visited several times and every dish is fresh and very delicious. Nice casual atmosphere despite being up-market. Will definitely be coming back very soon!

We have been a number of times to Plateau and have always enjoyed it very much. Came on a warm summer evening to find our table was right by the window - pane removed which was lovely for fresh air, but very uncomfortable as unable...More

Going after a wedding, I was pleasantly surprised, very nice cocktails and a decent wine list. A good address for one last drink.

We arrived here at around 11.30 just for a drink and ended up trying some of the Bites on the Chalkboard Menu. Sardines great!!! Having then strolled around the lanes for a couple of hours we decided to go back and have lunch proper here....More

This is ok the food some of the food was good and the service was good but I have marked it down as I thought for the price, the portions and products were a little overpriced, £6 for two sardines!

We have been to Plateau many times, but this is our first visit since joining TripAdvisor! In our opinion Plateau is without question the best restaurant in Brighton! The food is superb and service is always excellent. In comparison with some similar style restaurants where...More

Good service, great atmosphere. Food was tasty too although a little uninspiring - that may seem a harsh but there are quite a few outstanding restaurants in the area that it isn't the leader that it perhaps could be with a little more effort on...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
