A really nice place for casual drinks. The staff are friendly and the venue itself has a cool and relaxed atmosphere!

My partner and I enjoyed or visit to the Black Lion. The music was good, but unfortunately when the volume went up, so did the volume of the punters, good natured as they were.

We didn't eat but, the mains and desserts looked very good. The drinks seemed a bit expensive. A large gin and tonic and a Heineken cost £14.

This place does an amazing roast without cutting corners (but large portions). Great little tucked away place with a really great vibe. Lovely little garden too. One of best roasts we have had in a while.

Not too far from the beach, and has a pretty cool atmosphere. Also has a beer garden out the back, which is a rarity. Definitely a place I'd want to spend some more time at.

Lovely large pub which is always packed (for a good reason) Decided to pre book Sunday dinner as told may run out of beef chicken or lamb. However all 3 were available when we arrived. Food took 45 minutes from us arriving to the table...More

Thanks so much for your comments. We're genuinely sorry that it took that amount of time for your food to come out - this is something that we are very much working on when we hit such busy periods, by expanding our kitchen - but...More

Stopped here for a couple of pints, good selection of beers & drinks. Slightly pricy but good seating indoors and outdoors if in groups.

Great time trying to decipher the clues in the mystery room. Host Gabriel was a delight and rescued us when our collective brains failed! Hope you're not afraid of the dark!!

Here at The Black Lion, we aim to be the best at everything we do... And we do a lot!! From a fantastic restaurant serving fresh food 7 days a week, including roasts every Sunday, to a consistently busy late night bar... And everything in between... The Black Lion is all about live music, 6 days a week. Up-and-coming local bands, live and authentic Blues, Jazz Sundays playing gypsy jazz, swing blues soul and funk for a lively end to the week, Brighton's most popular Funk and Soul bands and DJs that will keep you dancing until 3am, We've got the lot! ... It's a fairly eclectic blend, but we find it attracts lots of the right kind of people. Don't forget 2 for £12 cocktails on Tuesdays, choose from our extensive list made from quality, fresh ingredients, and the best Bloody Marys in town, you'll find something for every taste. Perfect for any weather, our beer garden is the best place to spend sunny afternoons, or stay cosy inside on winter evenings.
