Recommended for a proper breakfast or fish and chips. As basic and good as it gets. Proper mugs of tea. What could be better?

Just brilliant for solid British breakfast and lunch, excellent mug of tea. Could do with a spring on the door! So busy it was a distraction all the people leaving the door open on a February morning.Came back after 18 years and still wonderfully the same!

Popped in for a fish and chip lunch on way to arcade. Superb fish and chips. Not at all greasy and lovely flavour. Good value, lovely service and friendly atmosphere. Always busy which is a good sign!

Visited Hastings today and won the argument as to where we should eat! It was cold, but because we had our dog with us we decided to brave the Arctic conditions and huddle into a corner. Dog satisfied as she was offered a sausage - didn't argue too much! The haddock and chips with mushy peas - delightful and washed... More

I have been to this cafe a couple of times and the cod and chips was excellent, however the last lot I had (to takeaway) were awful! I ordered a large cod and chips, when I sat to eat them in my car overlooking the beach, the cardboard box they were in disintegrated with the sheer amount of vinegar that... More

Every time we visit Hastings the mermaid will be the place to eat for us. It's one of the best fish and chips in town and amazing service. Fish and chips freshly cooked with good size portions staff are very friendly. Will defiantly recommend it! And will be returning back.

Fresh cooked cod and REAL chips not covered in oil. Good value for money. Sit inside/ outside or takeaway. Great quality and lovely efficient staff.

Was hungry and fancied fish and chips. I have cod and the GF had Scampi. Service was really good and drinks arrived very quick followed by our meals. However they were very disappointing. FROZEN CHIPS!! At a sea side restaurant to say I was shocked was a under statement. They were tasteless and no flavour at all, I was gutted.... More

This was a lovely looking place, all the tables were busy but we were lucky enough that someone left and we hopped in. The food being taken to other tables looked good, the staff were very friendly but having told the gentleman our drinks order twice he still brought me normal coke not diet. My husband ordered the sausage and... More
