We were taken here for an evening meal by friends who had visited & eaten here previously. The pub itself is a beautiful period property with lots of small rooms, compared with modern chain premises the decor was dated but it was totally in keeping with the age & history of the place. The atmosphere was welcoming & friendly with... More

At the end of a walkling tour of the charming village of Dedham we were cold and wet. A glance through the window revealed a large empty table, log fires, ale and a substantial menu. The staff were welcoming and helpul. Foaming glasses of ale were quickly provided. Relieved of wet coats, hats and scarves and warmed by a cheery... More

I took my sister to the Marlborough Head for a birthday treat today and glad to say I made an excellent choice. Bags full of character, warming, open fires and welcoming staff. We both had lasagne and weren't disappointed. Staff were attentive without making us feel rushed. Planning to return with my husband another day! Many thanks!

Just on a drive out with family thought we would go in for dinner. Staff nice and friendly. Place old Tudor style looked good for age. Ordered food I had chicken curry let's start with mine. Turned up with a spoonful of rice(that was either under cooked or other cooked)eating it was like eating uncooked rice.chicken was in a bowl... More

4 of us went there for a meal last weekend. The food was cold and some was raw ,never have I seen a member of staff take food from the plate with their hands to take back to the kitchen ,we all just looked at each other in disbelief. On complaining to the manager he lost control raising his voice... More

Was this just an off night, we had been recommended this pub by our friends, who for some reason affectionately nick named it the sticky pub, but said the food was very good for the price and well worth a visit. How disappointed were we, we made an allowance for the must be brand new waitress, who didn't have a... More

Although the food was satisfactory the service was below par. We had two courses, and from start to finish, the visit took around 3 hours - we had to wait over 1/2 an hour to order each of the 2 courses, and eventually gave up on coffees. The staff appeared to have had no formal training and several lacked interest... More

Tucked away in glorious Constable Country, in the village of Dedham, this 16th century Inn was once a clearing house for local wool merchants. Today it is as perfect for a pint, newspaper, sofa, two roaring log fires, as it is for locally sourced extremely good home cooked food. There is a terrace and walled garden to enjoy in the warmer weather. Stocking Cask marque local real ales, good wines and open all day, every day, for good food and drink.
