Stopped here for a light lunch on a wet April day and was generally disappointed all around. The pub itself is in need of work, and looked tired. The food was not great and the burger we ordered which was on the pricey side was cold and red raw in the middle. We did tell the bar man but he... More

Food is absolutely superb and the quintessentially 'olde englishe' 'ness of the pub is a must do even if you do not eat. The wine was very good and the beers are no doubt also good. The service is relaxed but good and in keeping with the ambience of the property.

Came here for the Sunday roast as I only eat chicken and seemed to be the only place I could find that catered for me which was good . Place lacked a little atmosphere and the service was a little slow considering it wasn't that busy but staff friendly enough . Everything about the roast was lovely the only thing... More

7 of us for lunch, we were seated upstairs which was nice and not crowded. Service was good. pork roast was very nice. lovely crackling. My son had the lamb which was a bit unusual a big thick chunky piece of lamb, he said it was good. The only negative was the gravy which was all over the place. It... More

We had a lovely lunch and a couple of drinks here yesterday. Freshly prepared and nicely presented paninis with lovely triple cooked chips & nice side salad. My husband and I are reasonable eaters and left feeling full so I don't know why somebody left a review saying stingy portions?! There was a nice atmosphere and typical Cotswold decor. We... More

Three of us went for lunch. Fish and chips, panini and rustic fries, sharing board ( ploughman's) All greasy, panning came with 11 rustic fries, ploughman,s was very weedy - had to get food from Tesco' s as we were all still Hungary. Expensive fodder for what it is. Find somewhere else! ( staff were ok though)

Had heard good reports about the venue but hadn't had chance before now. Unassuming from the outside, from the moment you enter, there is a good feel about the place and a warm welcome received from both the manager and bar staff. You feel like a valued customer from the outset... The quality of the menu is exceptional. The choice... More

Had 3 courses, with a good but expensive bottle of wine. Mainly, local produce which is great. Adam Henson Gloucester beef rump steak was superb. Goats cheese starter probably best of this type I have had. the lava cake with vanilla ice cream was wonderful.

This is a bitter sweet review for me as I managed this property 20 years ago and it bought back many memories going back.......leaving me now with only bad ones! The reason for my visit was to attend a birthday party (24 diners) and the food was 98% pre ordered and was booked well in advance. Upon arrival we were... More

Thank you for your comprehensive review of your recent visit with us. To summarise our response: 1. No we don’t walk people individually to the restaurant, but you were welcomed at the bar and offered drinks before being directed to the restaurant where you were greeted again by more staff. 2. If you look around the area you will see... More
