We popped up this evening for a meal out as couldn't be doing with cooking on a Monday, what a plesent experience, the food arrived quickly and cooked fresh the plates where warm and the dishes looked very appetising, we had the burger and the cod and chips, both tasted great although the cod was slightly on the small side... Totally agree with all the negative reviews. As a local couple, we have often popped in here for a drink & food. The new establishment is so way of the mark for the area. They won't last long the prices they charge. 2 medium sirloin steaks ( asked for medium came out way too well done) All staff seemed very... More

On Sunday 16/04/17, I was in a group of six people who went to The Churchillian for lunch. We did visit a long time ago, but the latest visit will be our last. The restaurant was very busy, plus we did not want to ruin our trip completely, so we did not say anything on the day. However, the first... More

Don't bother going if you want to wait an hour and a half for your food which is tasteless and not worth eating when it comes. We ordered cheese wrap which came out 45 mins later as a cheese salad?! We said this is not what we ordered, 20 mins later cheese wrap arrives and is tasteless and looks as... More

Arranged to meet friends for dinner . Thought it was suppose to be be refurbished , disappointed to see that it had only been redecorated , chairs and tables still messy and uncomfortable . Such a shame as it has great potential . Food ok , pricey for what it was , had been warned that friends had been in... More

Thought we would try out the Churchillian as it's recently been renovated and new management but won't go back in a hurry! Scampi was luke warm (£10.95) steak was meant to be cooked medium but came out v well done (£18), chips on both were over cooked and had about 10 chips per portion, minted peas looked like they were... Called into the The Churchillian for a warm up drink after dog walking on the hill and ended up staying for dinner. We were made very welcome with our dog in tow. Ordered a range of small plates that were a little slow to arrive but this was forgiven as the food was great, the flavours were wonderful. The dog... More

Three of us ordered chicken ceaser salad without anchovies. Two arrived with them so they took them back but just took the fish off which left the taste of anchovy on the salad. Scampi was apparently good. Skinny fries not great. They did give the money back for two salads and the staff are lovely. Shame, because the views are... More

Have not been for food but I can vouch for the great drinks service. Great coffee and lovely surroundings. Can't go wrong. The refurbishment looks great and the bar area comfortable. Great for a coffee or a few drinks!

Serving good pub food until this September 2015 then we will be changing to an Anglo French cuisine in Sep 2015 with full on waiter service with fresh seafood dishes and gastro style pub food with a French flare. We have some of the best views over looking Portsmouth and a large outside patio area. For Lunch we serve our Plat du Jour for only £9.95 for two courses our chefs special and we have a variety of filled fresh baked baguettes and Jackets.
