Phoned just after 1pm today (see also The Vestry). The phone rang for more than a minute without reply. As with The Vestry, have taken my business elsewhere.

My wife and I came here before and after watching a show at the Mayflower. Our first impressions were very good. The staff were very friendly and although it was quite busy we weren't waiting long to be served. My wife certainly enjoyed the 2-4-1 pina coladas!! The 2-4-1 is available until 5pm on Saturdays

The restaurant was close to the theatre and offered a very good menu for the diner. Traditional Italian Food plus an extensive special board to choice form also.

Called in for lunch prior to an afternoon matinee at The Mayflower. We were fairly early at midday but the initial service was very slow and the waitress and barman seemed disorganized. Having said that, once we had been served the food and drinks arrived promptly. We ordered spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti Bolognese and both were very good. At lunch... More

Having booked to eat before theatre - which we had made staff aware of - we left after 55minhtes of waiting, not having eaten because we would be late for show. Attitude of one member of staff was appalling "not my fault". Clearly our order had not been placed as couple who came in after us got their starter and... More

Popped in here last night for a quick drink before our show... 2 wines 1 g&t. Staff obviously told to sell most expensive gin on menu, resulting in a long and unnecessary debate about the price of gin. Young man behind bar very flustered, possibly new and unsure of prices... all this is quite acceptable, as this all comes with... More

Pre theatre dinner for me & Mrs D. Ok pizzas quite tasty and my wife enjoyed her panacotta sweet very much but my affogato was disappointing with a lack of the required liqueur to make it "kosher". But overall the experience was ok, well priced set 1, 2 & 3 course pricing and the staff were all really nice &... More

Description
Gusto Lounge Bar & Bistro is at the heart of Southampton's cultural centre and the gateway to the City.

If you are a visitor to the city using the busy central station, the ever popular Mayflower theatre which is home to most of the biggest west end musicals and plays or the newly opened sea city and titanic museum you will find us ideally placed.

Our lounge bar is located on the ground floor. This is a casual dining environment. The ‘All Day Menu’ is served here on a walk in only basis; so casually walk in, sit down and then order at the bar.

Our Bistro is located on our first floor; here you can enjoy a more formal dining experience. Between 5 – 7 pm, the kitchen prioritises the Bistro due to the proximity of The Mayflower, so particularly if you’re a theatre visitor, this is the place to dine.
