Staying overnight on a Sunday, we tried the Bishop on the Bridge after looking on Trip for something family friendly. Young staff behind the bar were very friendly and helpful, and the food was fine - not a "gastropub" but sizeable portions of good food...More

Thank you for your review, and you know I think we all like our chips a certain way, particularly me... haha.

The only reason I return to the Bishop on the Bridge is the outside space which is lovely because it is close to the river. Every time I go back to eat though I end up wishing I booked somewhere else. When I went in...More

I'm sorry that we don't match up to your expectations. its a real shame as we do seem to have so many returning guests who always have a great experience with us here. I'm sure that our menu whilst small, has something for everyone. It...More

I'm sorry that what appeared an empty restaurant on a sunny day, was actually an almost fully booked one. As it is on almost all Sundays...... So absolutely no lies there!! As you arrived before the booked guests (2.30 SITTING) we could not give their...More

Sent a very pleasant Sunday evening on the riverside Terrace. The jugs of pimms were good value and helped the evening along. The food was good if a little expensive. It came in a timely manor and was tasty. Toilets were clean but doors to...More

Its great you had a good experience here with us, I'm sorry you found some open doors unnecessary, I can only apologise, but the heat really does give us no option sometimes. Also we have a multi storey car park, just 100yards away.... which is...More

Lovely pub, don't get me wrong but prices are astronomical! £5.35 for a bottle of Sierra Nevada is disgusting!

Thank you for your comments... particularly about the veggie options... I am penning my Autumn menu right now so this I will take into consideration.

Dined with colleagues sitting out on river terrace. It was a lovely spot. Ordered fish and chips - looked good. It disappointingly mediocre. Onion rings great though.

Winchester is blessed with quite a few good pubs and the unusually named "The Bishop on the Bridge" is certainly one of them. Great location actually beside the River Itchen, the pub is spacious with a large terrace/garden beside the river. It was nice having...More

Menu is "grown up" and good value. Location is lovely and the garden is fabulous in summer (as the name suggests, by the River Itchen). Can be a bit of a queue at the bar, perhaps could do with one extra member of staff on...More
