We booked for brunch on a Friday and it was fairly busy, so I was glad we had booked the high tables away from the main restaurant area. The service was good, friendly, the food was very nice too. We waited slightly longer than might...be expected for the food to arrive (just over half an hour), but the general friendliness of staff and quality of food still enabled us to give the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars. The only thing that stopped us booking for dinner was the lack of vegetarian option - one on the menu we saw.More

We ate here recently and had the best steak we have eaten in a long time. We had booked well in advance and on arrival we were shown to our table in the main part of the restaurant. Unfortunately, this was adjacent to 2 long...tables occupied by some very noisy customers. It was so loud that we were unable to hear each other speak at a distance of no more than 3 feet! Our waitress took sympathy on us and moved us to a table outside where we were able to enjoy our meal in peace. Fortunately, it was a mild evening or we would have been left with no alternative but to take our custom elsewhere. We realise the earning potential of large groups of diners but we do feel that management should give equal priority to those who may prefer to enjoy a quiet meal.More

We visited for a Sunday roast. There was no starter option and the dessert menu was limited. The place is very noisy and boomy and has piped music to compete. The service was very good and friendly. The meat was mediocre and tough. The vegetables...were ok but the accompanying gravy was thin and tasteless. We came away determined to have a nice time as it was a birthday celebration but won’t be returning.More

Having previously eaten at the sister eatery next door I was looking forward to experiencing The Bookshop. I added dietary requirements when I booked the table. I have a dairy allergy and am vegetarian, (The Burger bar caters fabulously for all diets needs.) on arrival...nothing was mentioned about my request, so when we were given the menu I asked. I was told the pasta is vegetarian or I can choose from the vegan sides. I’ve not had to have sides as a main meal in the past 10 years as most places could with notice provide a vegan option. So I had no option but to have beans crushed potatoes and battered broccoli, all were ok but not what I would call a nice evening meal. Such as shame as it’s a nice restaurant and the staff who served were great. We certainly won’t be returning as there are far superior eateries in the county.More

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant. Not an extensive menu but interesting dishes. All the food was tasty and well presented with lovely wine. The service was efficient and all the staff were welcoming. Would highly recommend.

We visited today for a special birthday and had the beautiful, generously portioned feast that is their unbeatable Sunday lunch. Love the newly opened out courtyard with Indian Street food and the Burger Shop's menu also on offer. Nothing was too much trouble and I...wish we could duplicate this wonderful experience everywhere.More

This place is wonderful. Food, service and prices are all great. You can see why it’s busy and if you don’t book you won’t get in. The pork belly is some of the best we have ever tasted! WOW!!!

The bookshop is the best place in Hereford for a roast dinner it really is a cut above the rest. We often dine here on a Sunday if we can get a table. Staff are usually excellent and mostly welcoming. The only problem ever occurred...is the side restaurant the yard and a staff member who I’m assuming is a manager??? Dark hair and gives off extreme attitude. The vibe here is always fantastic but on greeting where we walked down into the yard we were a little taken a back and not use to that unfriendly vibe. The two restaurants are connected and I am afraid this effected our feeling on our last visit. Needless to say the food and service on whole is very good but just hope we don’t receive the same attitude on our next visit.More

Just had a meal here, which was very nice, surprising busy (late morning) if you like a healthy meal, then this is for you. My one gripe is the extra charge of 50p extra for almond milk in coffee etc. Considering you don't have the...cows milk which IS included in the price, this makes a eggcup of milk about 70 pence, which is disgusting. The main reason why we won't be returning.More
