We really love the Old Barge, there is a fantastic range of real ales, good selection of wines and the food is great whether having a snack or a meal.

Just had the Sunday roast today, all presented very nicely, but a very small portion of everything hidden under a large Yorkshire. Not good value for money. Don't visit here if you're hungry!

Mooching around Hertford and as the sun was shining we popped in for Nachos. House red was delicious, the choices of beers good. Sat outside which was pleasant. Can imagine it will be packed summer time

Seated by the window looking out on to the River Lea with a pint of fabulous Woolforde's Wherry, eating home-cooked steak & ale pie with mixed veg was just what we wanted on a cold, grey Monday! Really nice, welcoming staff & although the menu is simple pub fare, it wasn't all deep-fried & battered so we could tell the... More

Always enjoy heading to The Old Barge in Hertford. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service both in evenings and during the daytime. Stopped in for late lunch meal yesterday. Great meals for all three of us, freshly prepared and served with friendly smiles. Thank you!

Stopped off for lunch, we found a roaring open log fire, friendly staff and a relaxing comfortable spot. Neither of us were overly hungry, so we ordered a sharing platter... it was all delicious, great flavours, plenty of it too, in fact we couldn't finish all of it.. well almost.. but not quite! We were so comfortable that we could... More

Lovely location on a little island in the middle of town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is nice and enough to keep you happy unless you are a big eater. We had Sunday lunch which was nice but I like my vegetables and my meat not so well done. I will come again in the summer.... More

We had a good lunch here having booked a table for 5 and space to accommodate a pram for our grandson. The waiter was very friendly and most accommodating. The pub is in a lovely position right next to the canal. I can well imagine that it's a super venue in the summer months. The food is normal run of... More
