OK I recently spent a day in St Albans looking around the town, and fancied a decent beer and a sarnie. This place was highly recommended, so in I went. They had a decent selection of ales, so ordered a pint. £6.20 ??????????? WHAT??? They didn't do any sarnies at all, only the kind of food that Robin Hood would... More

We are very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time with us. Please allow us to respond to your points in order. A number of our beers are fairly expensive, yes, but this is because they are special, strong and unusual. The beer you bought was probably a hoppy, 7.4% abv American IPA, so you paid a premium... We visited The Foragers for Sunday Lunch on Mothers Day. We've dined there a few times before and have found everything we've eaten there to be absolutely excellent. On this occasion, I had the Sloe Gin Salmon with Wasabi Horseradish it was the second best smoked salmon I'd had that day and it was sensational. (I'd been lucky enough to... More

Updating review having last made comment in November 2014... Arranged for friends to come here for their first time and standard of food remains excellent as ever. Superb atmosphere, very friendly. We all had a great night and I was thanked by my friends for introducing them to what they decribed as a gem of a place. Will certainly be... More

I have been to many pubs all over the uk to have a Sunday roast. I can honestly say this was one of the best I have ever had. I'm glad I skipped the starter and left room for the sticky toffee pudding desert. I could not have eaten 3 courses with the volume and quality of the food served.

Beautiful food, amazing Bloody Mary. Delightful little find. If you are intending to park in close proximity then you will struggle-use the multi story carpark at Christopher's Place.

The Verulam arms is a great little pub, with a gem of eatery. Most of the veggies and fish are sourced locally hence the name. The mushroom pie was terrific. I'm not as red meat person but the Verulam burger looked very good at the next table and the diner said it was very good. Great draught beers too. This... More

Once-upon-a-time, I really rated this place. Each time I went along, they were serving up new bits of fantastic hedgerow and it was a bit magical - like calling into Bilbo Baggins' kitchen. But the warmth has gone out of the welcome and the fun has gone out of the food. The menu is still interesting, but the food wasn't... More

Called in on a Saturday lunchtime. The staff were very welcoming. Large selection of gins available but understandably small menu ( due to small kitchen apparently). The starters we ordered were delicious. We chose not to eat a main course. Foraging events looked intriguing.
